Grade my Start Up team

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

In what world am I cutting DJ Moore (especially if my WR are so bad) when he is clearly the best WR talent wise in this class and I have him graded as the 1.03 in this class after Saquon and Chubb. Obviously everyone has their own rankings on rookies but I have yet to see him ranked lower than the 1.07. I appreciate the comments though, just don't understand how you can logically get to me outright cutting Moore after one year on my team or any team for that matter that drafts him this year.
revisit in a year and we will see. if he has a season like any other 1st round wr in recent memory you may not be so high on him in 11 months. maybe my line of "he might not make your 20 you keep" was over the top but i think you are expecting far too much from him initially. even if he was the best wr to come out in ages he plays on a run first team with a mobile qb who hasnt produced a WR1... ever. hes barely made a WR playable as a wr2 or flex option in funchess and formerly benjamin.

Trading three 1st round picks for Moore and Chubb was an awful idea and I like both guys a lot. But I don’t think either guy will bring much to the table this season. I think what BigBaeseRoss was saying that after this season Moore may be a cut candidate next season because of his lack of production this season but I would not think about cutting him because it may take a year or two to get production from him.

I do like all of the rookies you have and your team may be competitive in the future but not this year for sure and it sucks you gave up three picks that are likely to be early.

I would look to trade some of these older players (Hyde, Tate) for future assets during the season.

Here's how I see it on a big-picture level:

You put all of your start-up capitol into Gurley and Barkley.
You invested all of your future resources into Chubb and Moore.

Even if they all hit, do you have enough around them to compete? I don't think so.
And, if any -- or multiple! -- miss, then you have no way to re-stock or replenish.

I don't see a path to victory with your team as-is. Even worse, I don't see a path to an improved team short of hoping that your guys aaaaallllll play to their ceilings. That's a gamble that I would never, never take.

I guess the way I look at my future picks is why not invest in young top players now that could increase in value and give me production now vs waiting 2 to 3 years. I gave up 3 firsts for 2 firsts sure, but the 2 firsts are valued in the top 6 this year, there really is no telling where those 3 future picks will land and what type of class they will be in, plus future picks don't accrue value like current players do. Just my thoughts.

Why would you trade all of your future picks if your strategy was to be young and not really be that competitive. Just an interesting move that I'm not sure will play out but good luck

Don't Like that you gave up your draft for two years. Your receivers are not deep. At all. Those picks are going to be top 6 picks possibly. If Luck doesn't play early, you don't even have a guaranteed starter at QB. Your RB's are okay, but Hyde has little to no value as a trade piece and a lot of those guys are unproven. Gurley is your ONE and ONLY proven asset right now. (Aside from Luck)

It's true that rookie players do tend to hold their value for about a year.

But, the only asset -- the ONLY asset -- in dynasty leagues that is guaranteed to hold and increase in value is first-round rookie picks. You can ALWAYS trade a future first for a young player or a proven veteran. If those picks happen to be top-3, then you can often get a legit stud (I've seen, for instance, 1.02 net D. Freeman, I've seen it net M. Gordon, I've seen it net T.Y. Hilton, as examples). There's a strong chance that you'll have a top-3 pick next year: Do you really want Chubb or the opportunity to get one of those guys?

And you gave up THREE of those opportunities -- again, the only assets that will appreciate! -- for two mid-first round rookies. And we have no idea if they will hold their value, appreciate, or depreciate. IMO, it's a terrible investment strategy unless you 1000% sold on those players and/or a near lock to finish as one of the top couple of teams (even so, I wouldn't do it -- the in-season trade value is far greater).

Well quick update on this start up team (team 4 in sig) that everyone thought was so bad and had zero chance to compete this year and was dumb giving up 3 1sts and 2 2nds for Chubb, DJ Moore and 2nd combined, my team is currently in first place in the league and has almost 300 pts more than the next team. Chubb (sold him in a package to get OBJ) and Moore look like they could be studs. I also worked a trade for OBJ, traded away quite a few other assets and now have a top 3 (projected) 2019 1st, 2 2019 2nds and 2 2020 1sts and 2 2020 2nds. So life is looking good right now. Hopefully I can take home the hardware. I did appreciate all the comments though, and it was fun going back and reading them months later.

What was the full trade for OBJ as well as the trades to stoock up on 1sts so easily? Seems like you had some lopsided trades but all the power to you.

It's always funny to go back and look at opinions before the season. We all take historical data and future outlook and do our best to project outcomes but it's so hard and that's why fantasy is so fun. you really hit home for your later draft picks in Kittle/Connor/A. Jones. Basically got a top 5 TE for cheap, a top 5 Rb for free and another top 15-20 Rb for dirt cheap so all your fliers really played out well. I still think 2 1sts for Moore at the time was probably an over pay but he is looking like a star in the making and you were able to somehow regain all those 1sts anyways. Looks like your team is set for years to come. I'd probably still look to move A. Jones for a high upside WR like Davis range potentially? Kupp maybe? Or if you believe in Jones then look to move Connor after the season for a top 5 WR to balance out your team long term.

I mean, as it was you probably weren't going to win anything. But it sounds like you made some trades to improve your WR and Gurley + Barkley is obviously strong. So it sounds like the thread helped you?

Lots of great trades there for you. OBJ was a major win and I think the Watkins and Gesicki trades was a easy win as well.
