First time rookie drafter

Postby Bpmatrix » Mon Jul 16, 2018 11:55 am

10 team .5 ppr full dynasty league.

In year one one of a dynasty start up we are doing a start up draft without rookies and a rookie draft with rookies only. I have the 1st pick in the rookie draft so the first over all, I will take Barkley. Who are rookies with upside for my 2.10 and 3.1 picks?
QB- Big Ben, Eli Manning, Winston
RB - Hunt, Barkley, Ajayi, Jamal Williams, AP, J Connor Jordan Wilkins
WR - Evans, Hilton, Kupp, Kelvin Benjamin, Keenan Cole, Doctson, John Brown, Corey Davis, Geranimo Allison, Mike Williams
TE Hayden Hurst, Hunter Henry, Antonio Gates.

Welcome to rookie drafting it is a lot of fun. Something I would recommend is to develop your own rankings of the incoming rookies. That could be by watching them in college, seeing their draft slot, and/or listening to some “expert” rankings. If you don’t watch much college or don’t trust yourself to scout their are rankings throughout this forum and on the internet you could find and adjust to your liking.

The rookie is snake draft. Order is flipped from the random assigned non rookie draft. I pick tenth in start up draft.

This is why it's a dumb reason to set it up like this. You essentially got 2 1st rounders on your team while everyone else got 1

Goedert, Rosen, Keke Coutee. Good choices around these picks.

The best way to go with a startup is to draft rookie picks. I have seen people in startups draft the number 1 overall rookie pick in the first round (obviously). That way, you still get to draft twice, but you are drafting your draft picks. After the top 2-3 picks, you don't really know who are drafting but it makes it more fun. Randomly assigning rookie drafts seems...yucky?
QB: Russell Wilson, Aaron Rodgers, Patrick Mahomes, Ryan Tannehill
RB: Jordan Howard, Mark Ingram, Jay Ajayi, D'Onta Foreman
WR: Mike Evans, Brandin Cooks, Jarvis Landry, Robert Woods
TE: Travis Kelce, OJ Howard

The logic being none of us have ever had a dynasty league before and so we wanted to experience a rookie draft and we are still feeling our way out on it. I think our overall lack of knowledge on dynasty will end up cancelling out any advantage given with the rookie draft.
QB- Big Ben, Eli Manning, Winston
RB - Hunt, Barkley, Ajayi, Jamal Williams, AP, J Connor Jordan Wilkins
WR - Evans, Hilton, Kupp, Kelvin Benjamin, Keenan Cole, Doctson, John Brown, Corey Davis, Geranimo Allison, Mike Williams
TE Hayden Hurst, Hunter Henry, Antonio Gates.

First off, don't snake a rookie draft, it gives less advantage to the guy who took last. And as for your question, I would think Kalen Ballage will be there at 2.10, and I would snag him as I don't think MIA trust Drake with a full workload. QBs and TEs should be there too.
