Dez for Hurns

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

I'd still take Dez here. Hurn's ceiling is what Dez did last year, which is 850 yds and about 70 receptions - again, that's his ceiling.
67/1,031/10...as of now that is his ceiling
How do you come up with that? Because that is what he did previously? The situation is changed, the 850 above is what the Wr1 in that offense did last year, so that is his ceiling, at least for me.
Because Hurns isn't a 30 year old has been and the Cowboys will be a better offense next year. So is Brandin Cooks ceiling what Watkins did last year...?

Kinda short sighted with minimum thought put into it, but there isn't a right answer here at the moment, so OK. Hopefully this input is just for this debate and isn't a widely accepted criteria for older players as Dez is currently better than at least a hundred rostered receivers atm. I'm excited to see how our annual summer of hypotheses play out during the year.

It always cracks me up when I see older posts pop up after the season and how far off it is. I saw one with Dixon vs Hunt

I often wonder if the people who like Dez so much have actually been watching Dallas every week for last few seasons or if they are just drawing their conclusions from some YouTube videos. And it's not as though it is just the opinions of those of us at home...the team that he's played for since he came into the league cut him outright rather than offering a new deal and it had everything to do with a rapidly declining skill set.

Someone in the Mixon vs Howard discussion said they weren't giving credit for past production so why are we doing so with Dez? Was he great in the past? No doubt. Better than Hurns? Yes. Better now? Very questionable. I see no reason why Hurns can't or won't produce numbers that are just as good as we've seen from Dez recently. So the question is whether or not not only is signed by another club but if that happens will the production be there that will be better than he's produced in Dallas. For me that's unquestionably no so this does come down to the simple question of whether or not to take the rostered WR or the free agent.

Interesting take. I didn’t realize ARob would be following Hurns to Dallas and lining up on the other side of the field occupying the defense’s top CB. I could’ve sworn he signed with Chicago.

Or maybe you’re saying Michael Gallup or Terrance Williams is an ARob-caliber receiver?

Hurns for me. I saw Matt Harmon's reception perception, and Hurns was one of the best in the league at making contested catches. The "ceiling" that people are giving Hurns is low. All honesty, Hurns is probably a wr2, but he does have talent to be a teams number 1.

Oh crap, there goes my positive view of Hurns... Harmon probably going down some long, dark road of microanalysis.

I've always been curious to know what other people that of "reception perception" It seems like a really cool way to analyze WR's. One WR of note last year Harmon was SUPER high on was Keenan which makes sense with how good of a route runner he is. Do you think the only reception perception is a hoax? I haven't looked into it enough to decide

And the previous one was Tyler Lockett. My comment was intended to a bit sarcastic...

It's not a "hoax", but far too much stock is put into it. Overall the problem is that there isn't a single "expert" in this game with some great insight that any of the rest of us don't have.

I don't read into it a lot, but I look at the contested catch and similar things that seem relevant. I know he microanalyzes everything, but it can be a useful tool if you dig through all of the filler

The thing I'm saying is it don't really matter how good of a WR you are %75 of a WR is targets and QB.. I mean like AB yeah he is awesome but if he didn't get 160 targets from a good QB he wouldn't catch 100+ passes.. I mean what's Hurns going to get 120 targets from a horrible mid-deep passing QB that's probably good for around 60 catches , But if you gave him 200 targets from Ben he would probably catch 130+ passes
