Am i asking for too much?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

12 team 1 PPR league
start 2 RB 3 WR 1 flex

Rebuilding, trying to blow it up and start from scratch

The other owners last offer:

I give: David Johnson
I get: Davante Adams, Brandin Cooks

I counteroffered the same deal, adding 2018 pick 1.08 to his side. (My logic was that at 1.08 i could at least grab a Kerryon or Freeman to bolster my suddenly barren RB position)

Honestly that still feels a bit light to me, but given the fact that the other owner has stopped all communication for the last 36 hours im guessing that this deal wont be accepted. Am i undervaluing Adams and/or Cooks? IMO both Adams and Cooks have the potential to be top 10-ish WR, but they also both have warts and carry a certain amount of risk. DJ is about as risk free as a player gets.

Im pretty close to just walking away and keeping DJ.

Thanks in advance

If I am rebuilding..I would take that offer. But I am not that high on DJ. He had one great year. He will be playing with a rookie QB by mid season and I think they will be playing from behind a lot. Will that help with his receptions? Yes, but they will be facing defenses that are going to concentrate on him. Now this all goes out the window if Bradford's knees and body hold up for the season...

In a rebuild, I think that is pretty solid value for DJ. Maybe see if you can get a late 1st or early 2nd as well, that may help you feel a little bit better about moving him.

I actually did
I counteroffered the same deal, adding 2018 pick 1.08 to his side.
Which is what prompted me to ask the question "Am I asking for too much"

Coming off an injury and not sure how the Cardinal offense will look I would not accept that offer if I was the other owner that said I think a later pick or a throw-in should be something you could get done. A 1.8 is going to be difficult in my opinion though.

Please see my question in the forum. Thanks.

You're asking too much. Adams + Cooks is a really solid offer. I wouldn't add to it if I were him.

As another poster already said, after an injury last year, how do you get risk free??? add to that a new qb, head coach and OC, my first thought isn't stability and a return to 2016 numbers

Injury to a wrist is not a "risk" by any means and the offense HAS to go through DJ on the ground AND through the air....its crazy people are undervaluing DJ for not playing for a year, recency bias for sure. With that being said Adams +cooks is a relatively fair offer as both are younger than DJ and have top 10 upside. For me I'd rather have a different piece that Cooks like another top potential RB like a top 5 rookie pick or someone like Mixon or Cook and I'd make that trade.

I think you answered your own question.

If you are asking if consensus is going to agree you're asking too much - yeah most likely a majority of owners will not pay D. Adams & B. Cooks & a 1st to get DJ. However if the value DJ has to you makes it so that you do not feel comfortable moving DJ unless you get that - then no you are not asking too much.

Trades occur when both sides get something more than what they had - and if you rather roll with DJ than Cooks & Adams that is your choice and you are entitled to stand by it. If you need that extra juice of a future 1st, then there is nothing wrong in needing that - so long as you're prepared to not have a trade made. You have to do whats best for your team, not whats best for consensus.

It is two separate things - whats market/consensus value and whats the value I am comfortable with to move a player. Don't make a trade that others are comfortable doing, because in hindsight down the road you may regret it. Make the deal you can live with.

However if other owners POVs help you to adjust your valuations & what you're comfortable doing - good on you. :)

I agree with all of this. And for what it's worth, I wouldn't move DJ for that.

The injury was to his arm or something, but not his legs. He will be 100% fine.
