Ty Montgomery's Value

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Ty Montgomery's Value

Postby TroyH » Tue Jun 19, 2018 6:04 am

I made the below offer last night and he said he has to think about it:

Send: Rivers and 3.06
Receive: Ty Montgomery

What are your thoughts on the offer? Did I overpay, or would you add anything else to this to sweeten the deal? I honestly believe that Ty is going to be a better fantasy asset than Aaron Jones. Jones played very well last year, but McCarthy has said last season and this offseason that he likes Ty alot. Plus Jones' size doesn't seem like an ideal for an NFL team either.

What is Ty Montgomery's value? Am I too high on him or is he a good buy low candidate?

QB: Love, Watson, Cousins

Am I the only one high on this guy? I think he fits their passing system a lot better than Jones or Williams. The only issue he has had is durability, which I think it will be RBBC but I believe he will be the best fantasy asset. RB2 ceiling with a Flex floor?

I'd say Montgomery = late 2nd / early 3rd, and I value Rivers around a late 2nd in a 10-team 1QB league. I'd say you overpaid by the 3.06, but it's not bad if you believe in Montgomery.

I'm with you on this 100%. One of Jones or Williams may walk away with the job for the bulk of the carries but I think Ty's role is the safest as the primary receiving back and change of pace guy. I bet he will be a solid 10-12 point ppr guy a weak.

I agree I overpaid, but no one in my league values QB's very high (unless you have Rodgers or Wilson). Plus Trubisky is sitting out on waivers right now, and our league allows you to pick up and drop all the way up until August.

Makes sense. I'm not a Montgomery believer, but he can certainly be a high-end RB2 again if Williams and/or Jones get hurt. Worth a shot since you don't need Rivers. Like I said, not a bad trade.

I’d rather use my roster spot on someone else. Wouldn’t even consider him in non-ppr. He might be a third down receiver... he’s got Jamaal and Aaron in front of him and despite the reports of a RBBC from the HC he also said if someone can show the ability to carry the load they will take that route. Oh and banged up or not... his YPC dropped considerably (5.9->3.8)

In 10 team league Rivers has almost no value.

There's essentially no value being exchanged here. A 10 team non-ppr 1QB league, all these pieces are just fluff.
Ty Mont will have a role but in a ten team only start 2/3 RBs, 2/3 WRs I doubt he's a flex floor.
Sorry I just don't see the value here. In his "big year" he was what? The RB38? I think he's a great real life player but I don't see his value in your league/team.
