Howard vs Guice

Postby Longstreet » Mon Jun 18, 2018 4:14 am

Thinking of offering Howard for the #2 pick
(Guice).
What are your thoughts?
I am not in a position to win this year. I also have picks 1.04 & 1.05
Thanks.

With not being in a position to win, I would take the 3 rookie RBs and plan for the future. I know that youre non-ppr but Im still not a fan of RBs that get taken out of the game on passing downs
Team 1
12 team league, PPR
Start 1QB, 1-3RBs, 1-3WRs, 1 TE
QB: D. Prescott, K. Cousins,
RB: D. Cook, M. Gordon, T. Cohen, D. Guice, R. Penny J. Mckinnon, L. Murray, C. Edmonds, D. Harris
WR: O. Beckham, D. Adams, K. Allen, J. Edleman, O. Johnson
TE: E. Ebron, G. Kittle

Team 2
Start 1QB, 1-3RBs, 1-3WRs, 1 TE
QB: Mayfield, Winston,
RB: D. Cook, N. Chubb, K. Johnson, G. Bernard, N. Hines
WR: O. Beckham, J. Jones, A. Brown D. Funchess, Z. Jones, D. Moncrief, M Bryant
TE: G. Kittle, E. Ebron, R.Gronkowski

I don't see a reason to move the guaranteed production of Howard and hope you get someone better. You're better off keeping him and adding two rookies than adding three without him.
If you can't leave at least a 20% tip, you can't afford to eat out.

I somewhat agree with Skip. I like Guice and think he is the better back, but he hasn't proven anything yet. I'm an advocate of proven production.

But, I don't think any of that matters because the person is likely to reject that offer. Everyone is worried about Howard and his usage moving forward. I don't see anyone moving the 1.02 for him. But, if you love Guice and don't trust Howard, send the offer and see what happens. It's your team after all, shape it the way you see fit. Guice and Howard should see similar volume. It's anyone's guess who scores more at the end of the season.

I think Howard is more valuable than Guice at least for this season, the Bears should score more than last season by a decent margin and Howard will be on the field most of the time, plus he’s still young. I agree with Skip, keep Howard and draft two rookies.

One would think that the #2 is also in a rebuild. I think you’re going to have to add to Howard to get this done.

Seeing as you have so many other early picks, I'd keep Howard so that you at least have one proven back.

I doubt that the owner will accept that.

You should keep Howard, though. At best, he will be a solid, high volume, two down back. At worst, he will be in a split backfield with red zone duties.

Since you are not in a position to win, and it is non-PPR, you should be seeing what you can get for Green, Thomas, and Graham.

I'd keep Howard. I think you could slide into the playoffs if you grab two rookie RBs that produce immediately at 1.04 and 1.05.
