1.01 is easy, but what to do with 2.01?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

1.01 is easy, but what to do with 2.01?

Postby ajfst15 » Sun Jun 17, 2018 5:56 pm

Hello! I have a rookie draft coming up and was looking for some input. I have the 1.01, which is possibly the easiest pick ever, but I'm perplexed on the 2.01. The top 8 rb’s should be gone, so that initially leaves me looking at wide receiver to start the 2nd round.

Assuming that Moore, Ridley and Sutton are gone, that leaves a grouping of Kirk, Gallup, Washington, Miller and Pettis to choose from. I'm not in love with any of those options, or at least in love with the idea that I'll end up picking the one that's the next JuJu and not the one who's the next Zay Jones.

Should I consider reaching for Ballage or Hynes, being confident that they won't be there at 3.01? If I do that, I would always have the chance that someone like Chark falls to the 3.01 if I want to take a chance on a 2nd round (drafted) wide receiver.

Obviously trading down is always a nice value option, but unless a league-mate has a definite preference for one of the guys that I mentioned above, I can't imagine that I'd be able to move done a few spots while picking up much more than a future 4th at best.

My other thought is to trade the 2.01 outright for a player so if anyone has done the same and gotten a good return, please let me know!

Appreciate the feedback in advance!

Miller or Kirk for me, easily. You could probably make a case for Hines at 2.01, but I’d rather trade down a few picks and pick up some extras if I’m eyeing him.

Ballage is an absolute no-no for me at 2.01. I also wouldn’t pass on any decent prospects to be satisfied with taking him - whether I manage to trade down to snag him, or not.

I’m liking Kirk here, possibly Gallup since I’m assuming he won’t be there at 3.01

I am in a similar boat, though i also have 1.04 to go with 1.01 and 2.01. Taking Barkley of course, then whoever is there between Guice/Penny/Chubb I suppose. So it is a wr at 2.01 and am leaning Miller or Kirk also. Gallup is tempting due to situation, but I still think I like the talent of the other two more, and that is the route to take.

Don't reach on any of the RBs you listed. Take your favorite WR, who should probably be Miller.

I guess since I've been hearing for a year now that this year's wr class isn't highly rated, I'm finding it improbable that whoever I take at 2.01 is going to do anything other than decrease in value.

I would think that with someone like Anthony Miller, the best outlook would be that he turns into Sterling Shepard. Why not just try to get Shepard for the 2.01 when rookie fever hits? Some other potential trade targets based on ADP are below...any stand out?

If you could get pretty much any of these players for 2.1 (maybe not Mack) that would be great. If you could wait the year I think Henry would be the way to go.

How many teams is your league? I had the 2.01 in a 12 team and (happily) had Sutton fall to me there due to two owners being higher on Kirk and Miller.
QB- Andrew Luck, Kirk Cousins, Teddy Bridgewater
WR- Odell Beckham, Mike Evans, Demaryius Thomas, Randall Cobb, Courtland Sutton, Tyler Lockett, Tre'quan Smith, Laquon Treadwell, Rashard Higgins
RB- Todd Gurley, Dalvin Cook, Saquon Barkley, Mark Ingram, Tevin Coleman, Mike Davis, Corey Grant, Jeremy Hill (IR)
TE- George Kittle, Hunter Henry (IR), Trey Burton
Def- CHI, CLE
K- Justin Tucker
