Another Contender/Pretender (with a twist)

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Another Contender/Pretender (with a twist)

Postby jwb32 » Sun Jun 17, 2018 8:05 am

Team 1 in sig. This league has one dominant team....Wilson, Brown, Julio, Hilton, Freeman, Hunt, McCoy, Guice....and a few solid teams. Most teams have glaring weaknesses. My question is, where there is one dominant team, how much effort would you put into shooting for 2nd place? I'd like to make moves (acquire DHenry and/or Ajayi for instance) but not sure how much it helps me in future when top team starts to slow down. So do I make a run at 2nd or back off and build for 2-3 years out? Thanks!

my super bowl winning team...the best team does not always win the super bowl...
but, i would argue that your team does not need those players...if i were you, i would concentrate on a QB upgrade if you don't have to pay too much...even Brady/Ryan for a year or 2 would make that team much better

qbs=5pt tds wr/te=1 ppr rbs=.5ppr all get .25ppc

You have a decent core, though improving at RB and QB can only help. All it takes is one bad week in the playoffs for the dominant team to lose or a couple of stud performances from your team against the dominant one to win.

With that team, you play to win. When you get to the playoffs, anything can happen. You have to have the "any given Sunday" mindset.

1. In general, my goal is to get to the championship game. At that point, you can't lose. So, I tend to ask myself if my team can make it to that game, not if my team is is likely to win the 'ship. I don't like targeting the playoffs with an anything-can-happen mindset. A bubble team rarely gets anything, and, when they do, it's often third place.

2. I think that your team, as-is, is a bubble team. One elite player, some upside, but mostly average. I'd plan accordingly.
