Buyers Remorse

Postby jdomer2403 » Fri Jun 15, 2018 12:49 pm

I just completed a trade which sent my Tyreek Hill, Jerick Mckinnon, and Devonta Freeman to owner for his Julio Jones, Leonard Fournette, and early 2019 2. I believe i got the best 2 pieces (albeit injury risk) but why am i feeling the buyers remorse? I hate losing the RB depth in a must start 2 RB format and i hate losing the potential of mckinnon and hill. Ultimately, i went with the players who were better "right now". Talk me off ledge.

Mckinnon hype is unreal...

I would have preferred to keep what you gave up, but I've been trying to sell Julio since the season ended and have long had high hopes for JMcK. Fournette has been plagued by injuries his entire career, including college. Freeman has started to attract concussions, but he still produces strong numbers.

The value is pretty firmly on the Julio/Fournette side tho, preferences notwithstanding.

Surprised the votes are so lopsided

Tyreek<Julio (not by much)

Freeman<Fournette (Not by much)

Mckinnon>>>>>>>>>2019 2nd especially if its a late second

I think its more even than the votes suggest, Depends on roster construction, give me Julio and Fournette if you are win now and have other RB depth, if you're rebuilding I'd take the 2 RB's and the younger WR

I couldn't vote. Feels even to me. You got the best asset in the deal in Fournette but it's even on both sides. I like it for you.

Hot take analysis.

Tyreek is going to suck this yr, too many mouths to feed in KC, esp with what is essentially a rook at QB.

Mck will lose the early down work, once they discover that's he's just a rich mans Chris Thompson. He lost the 1/2 down role to Asiata when AP went down, then he lost the 1/2 down role to Murray when Cook went down, he'll lose the 1/2 down role again this season. He's a glorified 3rd down back, nothing more. He'll still be decent but not at all what ppl are expecting.

I like Freeman, so nothing hot take-ish here for him.

You got Julio and Fournette. I prob would have been tempted to give all that for just Fournette. Getting Julio and a 2nd on top is a good deal for you. Great trade.

X2

Plus I could also see Tevin Coleman cutting into Freeman's carries more now. Don't get me wrong I like Freeman, but Fournette doesn't have anyone behind him that could cut into his playing time like Freeman does. I think you made a solid trade.

I prefer what you gave but it’s close. For me:

Hill>=Julio
Freeman<Fournette
McKinnon>>2019 2nd

I think you have buyers remorse because it's close enough to even that it's personal preference. That means it'll be easy for you to second guess.

So try to set it aside and roll with it! Or flip someone.

I like it.
McKinnon is getting way overrated he really isn't a good RB it showed when he got the starting job a couple years ago and he isn't that young anymore , I think he can catch a good amount of passes in SF but Shanny does like using 2 RBs in his offence see Freeman and Coleman
Hill I am a little iffy on with a new QB and Watkins there now but overall I think he still gets around his 100 targets and puts up top 15 WR numbers
Coleman should eat into Freemans workload a little more so he shouldn't be what he was
LF is a top 5ish RB if he can stay healthy only thing that hurts him is he don't catch passes
Julio should give you 3-4 more elite years if he can stay healthy

Julio is at a sell now value in dynasty at age 29.5, and Fournette has had a lingering ankle issue. The 2nd rounder is a dart throw, but you could get something out of it. Sorry but give me the two stud starting backs and a young Tyreek.

lol In what world has McKinnon ever been a stud in the NFL , For that matter anymore than a avg. backup RB ?

Julio and LF are better and more valuable players than Hill and Freeman and you got them, so that part you won, however the crazy hype value of MacKinnon way overshadows the diff even with the 2019 2nd coming back

I’m not on the macKinnon hype band wagon claiming he is amazing, but I am on the sell him for his value train. For that reason I’d say you lost value.

I think you came out well on this trade. I see Hill’s numbers taking at least a slight dip with Watkins signing in KC. Also, Freeman is probably one concussion away from a real dangerous situation and with his running style, it’s concerning to me as an owner so I wouldn’t mind moving him. The hype on pretty much anything involving SF players is pretty much out of control and although I like McKinnon, I feel like he’s being over-valued. Also, I think Julio got more elite seasons left in him so don’t worry about that, you got the best two players in the deal, imo.
