Picking at 1.03: Need Advice

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Depends on risk tolerance and or team situation. If I have a couple of low end rb1's, I might want to go for the home run. For me, the homerun would be Michel, but I also give him the highest bust possibility too. For safety/more consistent productions/TD: Barkley, Guice, Penny, Chubb.
Team 1: 16 Team
QB's: Fields, Wentz,
RB: D. Harris, D. Montgomery, Kendre M.
WR: Chase, AJ Brown, Aiyuk, Bateman

QB: Mahomes, Burrow, Watson
RB: Hall, Walker, Javonte, Pacheco, K Mitchell, Dobbins
WR: Godwin, JSN, Pittman, Pickens, Toney, DP Jones, S Moore
TE: Andrews, Fant, Likely
(2024) 1.03, 2.03, 3.03
(2025) Top 3 1st, my 1st

Team 3 SF, TEP, Start 11 ppr
QB: AR, Watson, Young, Levis
RB: ETN, Walker, Pierce, Akers, Pacheco, Herbert, Warren, Kelley

I just don't think Penny has the explosiveness that Michel has. Now I am not trying to say Penny is a bad back but he reminds me a lot of Sankey. How many scouts thought Sankey had the potential to be the best back in the draft? In the end I think its safe to say Freeman turned out to be the best. So projections are great and all but they can be wrong.
That's funny, I think Penny is more explosive than Michel. Watching some Sankey right now and don'ts see it. Sankey looks like he's running in sand compared to Penny. I actually think Sankey's play speed reminds me of Guice, not Penny. It's your pick man, take Michel if you like him. Ultimately you will feel better if you go with who you like, if it's a hit or miss, you know you went with your guy.

If Michel is your guy, 1.03 isn't t too early.

I wouldn't take him before 1.07 but I'm also not opposed to taking a risk and projecting some.

Michel is already 23. His floor is high but I don't see him getting a lot better than he already is.

For me right now it's Barkley, Penny, Chubb, Michel, Guice, Kerryon Johnson, Ronald Jones, Royce Freeman.

Smaller rbs can be elite in ppr but I'll roll the dice on getting the next fournette, gurley, Zeke, ect over landing a kamara or cmc. Easier to hit on bell cow sized backs than getting guaranteed targets for the smaller guys imho.

I know Guice is low but I don't like his work ethic and wonder if he will have his head on straight enough to make it in the NFL beyond years one and two. I don't really like the landing spot in terms of straightening him out and especially in this draft there are less risky options with similarly high ceilings.

Barkley at 1.01 of course. I have guice/michel pretty even at 1.02, so i would just take whoever of those two that will end up being available at 1.03.

I don't think michel is too early at 1.02...imo 1.02 could be 5 different guys with good reason. Really depends on who you like and who you believe in. Me personally Id have no problem taking michel at 1.02..

edit 1.03, but id go 1.02 also :D

michel is easily the 3rd most talented back in this class IMO but the PATS...... im sure penny will have a better career or at least first few years due to landing spot alone. So Barkley , Guice , Penny id say based on the current situation.

Well there could be a scenario when Penny is picked 2nd leaving me to choose because Guice and Michel. At that point I think I would probably lean Guice but I would definitely try to trade up to get Michel as well

wouldnt touch michel at 3. look at pats rb history and ask yourself why michel would be different and change everything about new england running backs that has been true the past 15 years? Kevin faulk was the best and he was an all purpose back but never had stand out numbers. Maroney, the last 1st round pats rb lasted like 3-4 seasons and was mediocre at best. the best season by a pats rb in recent memory was Ridley and he went for 1 season at around 1300 yards and a handful of scores.

ignore history if you want but i am siding with history over talent in this case.
team 1
12 team, 1 pt for 4 rec, 0.1 per rush

1,3,4,5,5,6,7 (all late mostly)

team 2

J Williams, G Wilson, C Watson, Flowers, J Addison, Tillman
Kincaid, Kolar, Ruckert, Fergeson

Kenny Clark, josh allen, jaelen phillips, felix a-u and a bunch of fluff and rookie fliers at idp
