Lots of picks - go for it or start over?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Lots of picks - go for it or start over?

Postby EverFTN » Wed May 23, 2018 10:10 pm

Hello,

For team 2 in sig.

Through a series of bad trades and bad drafts, my once bright and shining championship team has fallen on tough times.

I have 1.02, 1.10, 1.12, 2.02, 2.10, 2.12, 3.02 and 3.12 this year.

Should I take advantage of my bevy of picks, trade some of my value players, and start the rebuild process now? Or try to package picks for a stud WR? Or just draft like normal and see what it looks like next year?

Thanks.

I would roll with your picks and see how things look. Take your favorite back outside of Barkley at 1.2. Grab two of Moore, Ridley, K Johnson or R Freeman at 10 and 12. Take another WR at 2.02 whoever you like out of the Kirk, Sutton, Gallup and Washington group. For 2.10 or 2.12 I would possibly think of packaging the picks and moving up for your choice of the young QB's.

Yea your team isn’t as bad as you make it sound. Sure you have some older pieces but so many find themselves in a constant rebuild in their quest for youth.

I say make you picks as stated above. I think your 2.10 is early enough for a young QB. I have only had 1 draft so far and they went 3rd and lower.

I would keep 1.02 and 1.10 and move all other picks if possible to better next year picks... I don't like these WR too much

Thanks for the advice. Glad to hear I may not be too terrible - just getting older. If I could land Moore at 10, that’d be my dream scenario. Hard to predict with this league who will take what.

Any more opinions out there?

Thanks.

Your WR core isn't bad IMO. Alshon, Sammy, Marvin and Robby could be a decent 4. You definitely need to focus on RB early and often. Take a TE in the 2nd and grab 1 WR at some point for insurance.

Mini rebuild. I'd sell some of the older guys and get some youth and upside and maybe wait another year before you truly compete again.

Go for it. If Penny or Guice can hit for you year 1, you have a shot. Jones and Woods are decent WR3/4s, and Olsen and Doyle should put up decent numbers. Trade the late 1st/2nds for depth if you don't love any of the rookie options at that point.

I’d look at it as more of retooling than rebuilding. I’d put it out there to all of the contending teams that Shady is up for sale and try and add a other first. I’d also look to be packaging a late firsts with your early second, some combination and try and move back up in the first.

I’d keep your picks and maybe see about packaging McCoy and the 1.10 to move up and grab another young starting runner in the 1.3-1.6 range.

I would also gauge the interest in your 1.2, because if you can go from 1.2 to 1.5 and get a decent piece in return; I’d say that’s a win. Like last years draft, there seems to be a pretty big tier 2 after 1.1. But if there is a specific rb you want, ignore me haha

As others have said, your team isn't that bad. With all those picks you're bound to hit on a guy or two that has a good rookie year and is a major contributor right away. Pair that with either Jeffery or Watkins breaking out and that's a really strong looking team.

McCoy is the only guy I'd think about selling if you really want to get something out of him while you can, though I wouldn't rush to do it if you can't get good value back. I like the idea above of trying to package him with 1.10 to get another one of the top 6 RBs.

I can't agree. If I'm reading it right, you start 1RB, 1WR, and 2 flex. Is that correct? If that's the case, then you're waaaaaay behind in terms of your starters. They're all good -- don't get me wrong -- but you don't have a single elite player and you have some lesser players.

I think that you either go all-in and use your picks and players to upgrade or go all out.

I say do your best to use those picks this year. Get younger and see what other picks you can get for next year. If you’re on the clock and don’t like who’s left then maybe try to flip the pick for a player or future pick. I had 1.06 this year didn’t want Chubb and landed Devonta Freeman (different situation of course based on team below) but the fact of the matter is it’s better to trade than to gamble.

Thank you for all of the replies.

I think I will draft and see what comes of it. If I hit on two then that would be a good start.

I have tried to move McCoy several times in this league to no luck. Starting three years ago I was told he was washed up and then recently everyone just says “I know he is a good player but I just hate him.” I will take his 250+ points then I guess

Agree with u op, your team isn't a strong contender and it is getting old.

With your picks, I would b packaging, trying to get two or at least one more of the top 5.
