Acquiring a top pick

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Acquiring a top pick

Postby Iliveofftheland » Tue May 22, 2018 9:54 am

2QB league in my signature

I currently own the 4th pick and I’m expecting to pick one of the top QBs but a proposal to acquire pick 3 just came across. My plan would be to grab an RB with this 2nd pick.

Proposal is:
1.3, Manny Sanders, 5.3
for
B Cooks, Garçon, 3.4
10 team / 1.0 PPR / full keeper, 30 man rosters / 2QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 1Flex
QB: J. Allen, Fields,Goff, Dalton, Lance,
RB: J. Jacobs, D. Swift, R. Stevenson, Gus Edwards, Drake, Edmonds, Mostert, Jamaal Williams, C. Patterson
WR: Diggs, Godwin, J. Chase, C. Kirk, Claypool,
TE: Higbee, Everett, Albert O
Picks: 2023 (2, 4) 2024 (1-5)

I like it
10-team Superflex, 0.5 PPR, 15-man rosters, pseudo-dynasty
Keep any number of players (0-15), lose same number of draft picks
2010, 2015, 2020 - 🏆, 2013 - 🥈

QB, 2RB, 2WR, TE, SF, FLEX, D/ST

QB: Dak, Watson
RB: Swift, Robinson Jr, Singletary, Brown, Hubbard, Zeus, Herbert
WR: Wilson, Olave, Pickens, Aiyuk
TE: Pitts, LaPorta
D/ST:

Value isn't terrible, but I think you need Cooks for that team much more than you need a rookie RB. I'd stay put and take a QB at 1.04 and hope to compete this year.

I was very much on board with this thinking until Ingram got suspended...my RB depth is horrid, so I'm basically conceding the first 4 weeks if I don't make a move for an RB.

I also agree that you need Cooks. The right rookie RB could hold you over just fine until Ingram is back.

I see it as

Cooks>1.3
Garcon=Sanders (many will disagree)
3rd>5th

Thanks for the thoughts. I guess my question is -- even if I keep Cooks, does this team compete?

I'd take it, but I think 1.3 is worth more than Cooks in 2 QB. Seems like thats what will determine people's opinions.

With QBs Rodgers and Cam, RB Gordon, WR OBJ , TE Ertz... you definitely have enough to compete considering your other starting pieces are pretty solid. 1.3 won't help you as much as Cooks probably will.

I happen to agree as well. But, does that mean you would take 2 QBs (3 &4) or would you be okay to take an RB with one of the picks?

I'd go whoever is available of Mayfield, then Penny, then Guice at 1.03 and 1.04.
