Initial draft almost over; How'd the Browns do? *poll added

Postby evilhoudini » Tue May 22, 2018 9:36 am

We are currently in round 31 of 34 for our startup draft. 16 teams, PPR (1.5 TE), IDP; QB/2RB/2WR/TE/2FLEX DL/2LB/DB/2FLEX

Everyone selected a member of the AFC to be their team, and selected three players from that team to be their "keepers" before the draft started. So the top 48 players in the AFC were gone before the draft started. I selected the Browns (J. Gordon, Hyde, Njoku), and picked 5th overall.

Let me know how you think I did, and if you think I'll be able to compete! The # in parenthesis shows what round the player was selected. I traded the 8.12 pick for a future 1st and a 16th rounder (probably unwise, but he picked Theo Riddick, so I don't feel I missed out on too much).

QB - Newton (5), L. Jackson (9), Flacco (16),
RB - Zeke (1), McKinnon (2), Hyde (keep), J. White (11), J. Hill (18), Gallman (28)
WR - Watkins (3), J Gordon (keep), Shepard (4), Garcon (7), M. Lee (10), K. Coutee (12), J. Reynolds (16), J'mon Moore (19), Caroo (26), Latimer (30)
TE - Njoku (keep), C Clay (17)
DL - A. Donald (13), A. Hicks (27)
LB - Roquan Smith (6), Warner (14), Woodyard (15), Burfict (21), J. Collins (23), Bowman (24), V. Rey (25), Reeves-Maybin (29)
CB - J. Reid (20), D. Ward (22),

----

Biggest regrets

-Taking Newton in fifth. He was a good value, but I need more RB/WRs.

-Taking Roquan Smith in 6th. I was told by the guy picking after me I sniped Smith from him, so he would've been long gone if I'd waited. But is a stud LB worth a startup 6th, even with depleted players?

-Not getting a decent RB3. There was a huge run on RBs early on, but I could have gotten someone.

-Trading for a future first. Could've been a WR3/RB3.

***EDIT*** J. Landry and Chubb weren't available for me to pick as keepers, as rookies couldn't be selected, and Miami already "kept" Landry before Landry moved to CLE in Free Agency.

It's hard to provide feedback on where you took the players without really seeing the rest of the draft, but I actually think Cam in the 5th was probably a steal in a 16 team league. This team still needs a lot of work though, especially at WR.

Thanks for the reply, and I agree I desperately need some help at WR. If you are interested, the draft report is at the following link:

You didn't keep Jarvis Landry or Nick Chubb? Whoa! Unless, I'm mistaking the rules, that doesn't seem like a proper move.

Definitely can't disagree, and I suppose I should provide clarification. Our picks for who to keep were locked before the rookie draft, and we couldn't select rookies. I would have selected Jarvis, but Miami had already picked him as one of the three before Jarvis moved in Free Agency. So Chubb and Jarvis weren't available to me. Hyde was a risk, but I hoped Cleveland wouldn't add a RB in the draft. I was wrong!

Thanks for the clarification, something didnt seem right, your team is solid but hard to judge in a 16 team
