B. Cooks for McKinnon

Postby bills2 » Mon May 21, 2018 10:50 am

Thinking about moving Brandin Cooks for McKinnon +. What would the McKinnon side need to add? 12 team PPR, real thin at RB and nervous about the Volume he will get in LA.

It depends how high you both are on McKinnion and how you guys feel about Cooks.

Maybe Mck. has to add a WR2 type of a second round pick.

I maybe a contrarian here, but I don't think that Mckinnon is even ballpark to cooks. Cooks is 24, and has already had 3 seasons north of 220 PPR points, playing for a team that just traded a first for him.

I would need an early 1st with Mckinnon to consider this
12 Team PPR
QB/2RB/3WR/TE/Flex
QB: Mahomes/Jones
RB: Mixon/Chubb/Mostert/Burkhead/McKinnon
WR: Wilson/JuJu/Marquise/Mooney/Campbell/Dotson/Osborn/Julio/Tolbert/Shakir/Metchie
TE: Andrews/Hurst

I would say you might need a mid-late first on top of McKinnon. But if you can only get a 2nd that is ok too as you are the one with a RB need.
QB: Russell Wilson, Aaron Rodgers, Patrick Mahomes, Ryan Tannehill
RB: Jordan Howard, Mark Ingram, Jay Ajayi, D'Onta Foreman
WR: Mike Evans, Brandin Cooks, Jarvis Landry, Robert Woods
TE: Travis Kelce, OJ Howard

I wouldn't be trying to get McKinnon. I'm a Niner fan, and I'd look elsewhere. I believe McKinnon in open space, but between the tackles... eeeek.... he goes down on first contact rather easily, and doesn't often fall forward.

Sell high on Cooks though. There's a reason why 2 teams didn't want him.

I would need an early to mid first added to McKinnon. I still don’t see him being as high as people want him to be. You can get more for Cooks, especially if you wait for him to have a few good games.

Could go for CMC. This is for team three in my sig and I have a few holes. I like the idea of going after someone like McKinnon and getting additional assets compared to a straight up one for one.

i wouldnt be adding to mckinnon to get cooks and i'm not sure i would even be up for a straight swap. things change and both on new teams and new roles means that their history up to this point means very little to me. im anticipating career low numbers for cooks and career high numbers for mckinnon so a swap wouldnt be interesting to me right now. i may be interested in cooks if i was really weak at WR or thought i wasnt gonna compete this year anyhow and saw it as a good buy low time on cooks in hopes his role is defined with the rams or he signs elsewhere next year (to a team whee he would have a better chance at higher volume)

admittedly I'm not a huge fan of either player(last seaosn i would have said mckinnon is JAG and cooks is good not great and a better EOS stat guy than a solid week to week performer) but current situations and recent pay days tell me mckinnon is in for a pretty big role (top 5 paid rb in NFL) and they paid him to come to town and be heavily involved. cooks enters a crowded situation where the RB is the main gameplan attack and where the ball is spread around. seeing sammy get so underutilized makes me proceed with extreme caution with cooks despite his high end track record thus far in his pro career. Last year the target break down was Kupp 94, Gurley 87, Woods 85 (missed time as well), Sammy 70, TE higbee and Everett 80ish, all others combined 60ish. So in reality if we want high end cooks we all know in love then he needs his 3 year average of 120 targets (aka 1.7X the amount of targets Sammy got last year). how can this happen? will gurley get 30 less passes his way AND woods/kupp recieve about 20 less? will Goff attempt 520 passes rather than 477 (which was way up from 205 the year prior)?

i dont know but i would bet cooks doesnt see close to 120 targets and thus comes up well short of what we have come to expect from him.

I think a lot of people are forgetting about Joe Williams and Brieda....one of them will get the tevin coleman role to Mckinnons freeman role or vice versa where Mckinnon is just a Tevin Coleman...either way he isn't going to be a workhorse back
