Soon to be OTC. Startup Draft

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Soon to be OTC. Startup Draft

Postby BucFanJKE » Sun May 20, 2018 8:38 pm

I'm currently underway in my leagues superflex startup draft. I am currently on deck. Looking to see what people think of my options. If anyone can help me out, I would appreciate it. This will be the 6.01 in the startup draft.

League scoring: 0.5 ppr, (1ppr for TEs); 1 pt per first down rushing/recieving, 1 pt per three first downs passing. There are also some misc big game and big play bonuses.

I really had my heart set on Corey Davis but he went just now (2 picks before me). Here are what I believe to be the best available at each position.

QBs- Matt Ryan, Alex Smith, All Rookies
RBs- Kenyan Drake, Alex Collins, Jay Ajayi, Rookies other than Saquon, Guice and Chubb.
WRs- TY Hilton, Thielen, Alshon Jeffery, DT, Landry, Watkins, Funchess, all rookies
TE- All but Kelce, Ertz, Engram and Gronk.

I am exploring some trade back options but so far no dice. It looks like the best value is at receiver. As noted in my sig, I won't have another pick until the 10th round unless I find a trade back for this pick, or trade up later.

My team currently:

QB- Wentz, Mahomes, Dak
RB- DJ
WR- OBJ
TE- none

Thanks!

I may be in the minority, but without another pick until the 10th round and having to start 3RBs each week, I would take a RB...WRs run deep and you can piece that position together (seem to be the easiest to trade for as well)
I would take one of the rookie RBs: take your pick between Penny, Michel, RoJo, Freeman..
I am not a fan of Dak, if you can find an owner to trade a couple picks in this range for him, I would do that without hesitation..
that is the only pick I don't like, but you have a really good team...

just thinking: maybe you could trade dak and this pick and get 3 picks in the next several rounds...I wouldn't move back too far though
you really need a RB here, I wouldn't even consider another position with the 3RB starting requirement
team 1 -start QB RB 2WR TE 2RB/WR 1WR/TE
qbs=5pt tds wr/te=1 ppr rbs=.5ppr all get .25ppc
Watson, Brady, Mills
Ekeler, Hunt, Carson/Penny, DForeman, Mitchell, CPat, Kyren, Ford, KHarris
Cooper, sutton, Chase, Shepard, Atwell, Schwartz, Wan'Dale, Austin III
Gesicki, Engram, Hooper, Woods
team 2 -start QB 2RB 3WR TE 2Flex K D
Cousins, Stafford
DH JT, Ekeler, Kylin Hill, Herbert, KHarris, Chandler
Hopkins, Diggs, Adams, Godwin, McLaurin, Callaway, DPJ, Robby Anderson, Schwartz, Pierce, Wan'Dale, Doubs
Kelce, Andrews, Jacob Harris

Yeah, I get that. I just feel like it's a reach, but your not wrong. If I have to wait until 10 all the quality rookies are probably gone. I would lean Penny even though as a Bucs fan I want Rojo to be the best rb in the class lol.

I'm still trying to work out a trade with a buddy who hasn't even drafted a QB yet. I'll see if he bites. It would be a move back for a late 7th, late 9th and late 11th. I feel like I can get some quality rookies in that range if he goes for it.

These starting requirements are rough though. I may have bit off more than I can chew with my trade ups.

Who of those do you prefer? I am a Bucs fan so I am trying to be unbiased. Both will win their respective jobs and be good right away. Penny has the higher capitol, but I think Rojo has the benefit of more weapons to take some people out of the box.

I was leaning Penny, but part of me wants rojo since I will be watching all his games anyways.

I really like Penny and that’s who I’d go with but I realize that the Seahawks oline is still is a work in progress and so it’s a little risky. He’s going to get so much volume that he’s going to put up some good numbers even his rookie season.

Given your draft pick capital, I would try to trade down maybe.
