Multiple Blockbuster Offers from notorious lowballer

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Multiple Blockbuster Offers from notorious lowballer

Postby cd6696 » Tue May 08, 2018 5:24 pm

I'm in a league with an owner that continually sends "instant reject"/ "take your time so you don't accidentally hit accept" level offers. I call him out, he runs a twitter poll to prove me wrong, and it ends in 90/10, 80/20 etc.

Recently he's been sending offers that aren't terribly one sided. I want to get the forums opinion, as mine is tainted from previous offers. Here are some offers I've rejected in the last couple weeks. Most revolve around Hopkins, Cooper, Davis, and early picks.

It is a 1QB, 1/2 ppcarry, te premium, full idp. I'm rebuilding, he's coming off a runner-up season.

Offer A
I get Hopkins & '20 1st
I give Cooper, Davis, 1.03

Offer B
I get Hopkins, Diggs (I don't care for Diggs much)
I give Cooper, Davis, 1.01, and 3.01

Offer C
I get Hopkins, Mixon
I give Cooper, Davis, 1.01

Offer D
I get Hopkins
I give 1.01, 1.03, 1.04

I realize these aren't instant rejects, but I feel each one has the value on my side. Am I crazy for turning any/all of these down?

I’d take a long hard look at offer 1 and would probably pull the trigger. As a Hopkins owner I’d need this type of return for just Hopkins. The pick on top is nice. Admittedly I’m much lower on Cooper than most.

Offer one is the closest but these are all pretty bad. You didn't post your roster but I can't see a scenario where any of these make sense. He's asking for an extra big piece in each one.

Offer 1 is the only one close. How many firsts do you have? I’d rather hang on to them and draft RB heavy to go with Cooper and Davis.

I would pull the trigger on offer A, getting Hopkins for Davis, 1.3, and Cooper unless your team was a revuilder very much needing multiple assets rather than a stud

As you could tell from my team 1, I heavily prioritze studs however

team 2- 12 team SF, .5PPR, .5TE boost, 1QB, 1SF, 2 RB, 3WR, 1TE, 2Flex

If your rebuilding id stick with your combo of young receivers and high draft picks and build that way. Most likely Hopkins won’t single handedly rebuild your squad
Team 1
10 TM .5 PPR, 6 pt all TDs 1/2/3/1/2Flex
Newton, Rivers
LF, Chubb, Michel, Kerryon, Hyde, AJones, Royce F, Crowell
Adams, Cooper, Alshon, Watkins, ARob, Fuller, Doctson, Funchess, Gallup, Pettis, Valdez-Scant
Gronk, HHenry, Engram
1.09, 2.09, 3.09, 4.09, 5.09

Team 2
10 TM 1/2/3/1/1Flex 6pt all TDs .25 PPR RB, .5 PPR WR, 1 PPR TE
Wilson, Big Ben
Bell, JConner, MMack, Shady, CThompson, D'Onta Foreman, C Edmonds, B Scarborough
Julio, Nuk, Fuller, Cooks, ARob, Watkins, Cooper, SShepard, CDavis, DJ Chark
Kelce, Olsen, Andrews
1.09, 2.09, 3.09, 4.09, 5.09

Team 3
10 team, 0.5 PPR RBs WRs, 1 PPR TEs, Devy Superflex League
Carr, Goff, Falk
Barkley, Dalvin, Mixon, Michel, Ballage, MDavis, Dixon, Akers*
Hopkins, JuJu, Watkins, Fuller, Agholor, Moncrief, EQSB, Valdez-Scant, CRogers
Eifert, Ebron, JJames, JCook
1.02, 2.02, 2.06, 3.04

Played against David Johnson in HS, he was a stud back then too

I actually kinda like the first 3 offers. You can always counter and add something to his side or remove a piece from yours.

I have tried countering multiple times. A couple times, I've actually countered one of the above offers. He rejects. Then a couple days later has sent back the same offer, but this time with me giving up an additional player(s). Lol.

They all favor him. First one isn't terrible though. I would keep what you have and draft.

I think the first offer is a damn-near snap-accept. I value Davis at about 1.03 in this draft and Cooper around a mid 1st. 1.03 + 1.03 + 1.06 is a steal for the best WR in dynasty, plus you get to keep the 1.01 and get a free 1st in 2020. I can think of a helluva lot worse pieces to build around than Nuk and Barkley.

Look at it this way:
Nuk is what you hope Cooper or Davis can become.

Saquon is what you hope the leftover RB you draft at 1.03 can become.

The 2020 1st is just gravy.
Both are 12-team 1QB PPR dynasties

🦬PRIME🦬
QB: Hurts, Howell
RB: Mixon, Jones, Sanders, Dobbins, Akers, Roschon, Dowdle, Kelley
WR: Nuk, Godwin, Cooper, Lockett, Flowers, Chark, Collins, Hollins, Tillman, Tolbert
TE: Hockenson, Chig, Trautman
Taxi: Willis, Z. White, M. Mims, T. Palmer

Hull Awaits
$450 cap, 60 contract years

QB: Lawrence $5/3, Richardson $5/5, Minshew $1/0, Jones $1/0, Heinicke $1/0, Tyrod $1/0
RB: Achane $4/4, Warren $2/4, Roschon $7/5, Dillon $4/1, Hubbard $2/1, Kelley $1/0
WR: Nuk $78/1, MT $25/1, M. Williams $1/0, JSN $21/5, Reed $4/5, Rice $4/5, M. Wilson $2/5
TE: Thomas $1/0, Hill $1/0, Parham $1/0

I value cooper a bit higher than that. I look at cooper + davis = Hopkins. With this roster and settings, I lean cooper/Davis. Other leagues I'd prefer Hopkins. 1.03 is way better than what's likely a later 1st 2 yrs from now.

I'd near take offer A, maybe counter by moving the 1.03 to 1.06 but I'd think about it. The other 2 are rubbish unless you remonce the 1.01 from them
