Brown v Barkley

Postby OCPunisher » Fri May 04, 2018 9:02 am

Hello friends,

My team below is coming off back-to-back appearances in the title game (1-1 record), and I currently hold the #1 pick in the draft. Another owner made me a solid but not spectacular offer for said pick, and I'm mulling over a counter offer involving Antonio Brown.

Couple things to know about our league:
- Our scoring rules give 1 point for every 10 rushing yards, and every 20 receiving yards (so a slight RB premium)
- We're also full PPR

Who would you rather have?
Team 1
10 team, PPR, 22-man rosters, 5 PS. 1QB 2RB 3WR 1TE 1FLX 1PK 1DST
- QB: Herbert, Goff
- RB: Barkley, Jacobs, Achane, Akers, Dobbins, Gibson, Pacheco, Carter, Warren
- WR: AJB, Wilson, Olave, DJM, JSN, Pittman, Zay, Jameson, Godwin, Palmer
- TE: Andrews, Goedert, Freiermuth, Engram
2016 and 2018 champion!

Team 2
12 team, PPR, 40-man rosters, 1QB 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 3FLX
- QB: Herbert, Dalton, Minshew
- RB: Barkley, Swift, Herbert, JWilliams, Roschon, Zeke, KIngram, McFarland
- WR: Lamb, Waddle, DK, Aiyuk, MWilliams, Keenan, ARob, Woods
- TE: Andrews, Engram, Moreau, Trautman, Ruckert

This is really tough. With your league requirements (3WR and WR/TE), my initial thought was Brown. However, the 9 year age difference is huge and your team's championship window with Rodg/Zeke/Saquon/Evans/Thomas could be so long. Also, throw in the fact the Big Ben contemplated retirement at the end of last year, I think you should hold 1.01 but it's close.

This is really tough, but I'd probably hold and take Barkley or trade down from the 1.01 into the 1.02-1.06 range and try to pick up some other veteran pieces while still getting a solid rookie rb prospect. As someone else mentioned, you need rb depth more than you need wr depth atm (especially with the rb premium).

What was his offer? You will probably be able to tell from that if hes willing to deal AB.

ABrown for me, you hope Barkley can put up the amount of points Brown can but there is no guarantee. I would take this deal then trade some other WRs that you have for a more proven RB or for the 1.03 or 1.04 and pick Chubb, Jones, Guice, or Penny.

For that roster and with the scoring rules, I'd give a slight edge to Barkley.

The guy said you get twice the amount of points for rushing yards then receiving. How can anyone other then the most stubborn “unproven rookie” owner pick Brown?

If the 2018 season is your focus, I'd say Brown. But I like Barkley a little more long term because of what others have said: Big Ben retirement, Brown's age, etc.
16-team salary/contract league (start QB, RB, 2WR, 1TE, 2Flex, K, 2DL, 2LB, 2DB, 1 DEF FLEX)

QB: Foles, Bortles, Brissett, Mullens
RB: Bell, Ingram, Guice, Singletary
WR: Landry, Boyd, Shepard, Allison, Pettis, Kirk, Gallup, M. Brown
TE: Ertz, Everett
DL: Dunlap, Hunter, J. Allen, McKinley
LB: Ogletree, Wagner, Telvin Smith, Devin Bush, Eric Kendricks, Tavai
DB: Reshad Jones, H. Smith, Collins
K: Badgely, Elliott

Barkley. As much as it pains me to pick an unproven rookie (who i am high on) over AB, the reality is Barkley should be a pillar of your team for years to come. the ppc tips the scale for me
