I posted this over in the salary cap section, but no one seems to be doing anything over there.
I have 14 guys under contract, and 5 rookie picks. We have to fill our rosters to 25. After I tag one, I'll be at 20/25, with 1 of the 5 I need being a kicker. So, 4 skill players. I have $73M in cap space out of a $177M cap. Which one would you franchise tag?
Jimmy Garoppolo for $17M - other QB is Derek Carr for $8.5M
or
LAR D/ST for $4.5M - no other D/ST, easily the best D/ST available, heavy D/ST scoring
Does Carr scare you enough into tagging Garoppolo and leaving $56M for the free agent auction? Or should I just lock down LAR with the heavy D/ST scoring and call it good?
