Value of 2018 picks

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Value of 2018 picks

Postby Kluivert » Tue Apr 24, 2018 11:42 am

For team in signature

I have acquired many picks in our next draft. I was thinking of trying to trade 1.06 and/or 1.07. I don't belive a trade straight up for a first in 2019 is worth it alone, so what more should it take?
Or which player should I try to target for those picks that will help my team?

Or should I just stay put and draft some rookies?

Wow that is a loaded team at every position. I'd try to package a bunch of those 1sts for an elite player like Hopkins or Elliott. Otherwise I'd take Barkley, Guice, and four QBs from 1.04-1.07. Force teams that need to QB help to come to you.

Wow, I know QBs are gold in SF, but would you still take 4 QBs just because the value may be much better?

Well, it is actually a really competitive league. I have just always been very aggressive on loading up on 1st rd picks. I do that every year, and that strategy seems to work good for me.

I would take at least 3 QBs, maybe 1 WR. You will be set at RB and WR already, and guys like Flacco and Keenum are droppable in 10-team superflex.

Id like to see the trades you made to get these picks while keeping a loaded roster. Winning the league and acquiring that many 1sts isn't an easy thing to do in a competitive league.

I'd use your 1st 3 picks on RBs and the next two on QBs. I'd trade the 1.07 for a 2019 1st and 2nd. The rest your team is stacked so pick a few high upside guys and flip them for more fist in season.

I'll see what I can find:
Keep in mind, some of these trades was made prior to injuries, and no one knew were the 2018 picks would end.

April 1.01: I gave Meredith, K. Benjamin and 2.10 for 1.01 and a 2017 3rd rd pick
April 1.02: I gave Bortles and a 2017 3rd rd pick for 1.02 and a 2017 2nd rd pick
June 1.04: I gave John Ross and 2 3rd rd picks for 1.04 and a 4th rd pick
September 1.05: I gave T. Coleman and 2.08 for Gore, Woodhead and 1.05
August 1.06: I gave Trubisky, Keenan and a 2019 1st rd pick for Gurley and 1.06
April 1.07: I gave Landry for 1.07 and a 2017 3rd rd pick

Those were the trades I made for the 1st rd picks. Looking back I think I did solid on those trades.

All I can say is wow. This league doesn't value first round picks at all. Seems like at the beginning of the year you can literally just take advantage of half the league and find ways to take their first without giving up much.

Does this league have any opening?

I’m not in a superflex but I get the concept. I’m in a great position too. If I were you I would load up on RB and QBs and wait for the offers to come flying in. You are sitting in the “catbird” seat.

Don’t trade... if your draft is a live one with everyone in the room you can wait until the panic sets in and let someone offer you a deal you can’t refuse in the 1-th hour.
Team 1
Dynasty 10 team, 22 roster + 6 Taxi, PPR
1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 Flex, 1 TE, K, Def

QB: Love, Goff, Fields
RB: Bijan, Montgomery, Kamara, Ford, K Herbert, Zeke, Mattison
WR: Jefferson, Olave, London, Ridley, Sutton, Shaheed
TE: Kincaid, Kittle, Freiermuth
K: Tucker, Sanders
DEF: CLE

Taxi: Charbs, K Mitchell, Demercado, QJ, D Douglas, W Robinson, Hooker

Picks
2024: 1.03, 3.06, 3.09, 4.09
2025: 2, 3, 3, 3, 4, 5
2026: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Team 2
Dynasty 10 team, 22 man roster + 6 Taxi, PPR, SF and TEP
1QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex, 1 S Flex

QB: Allen, Goff, Watson, Jones
RB: K Williams, B Robinson, Chubb, Ford, Mostert, A Gibson, Dillon, Pierce, Zeke
WR: Olave, T Hill, Addison, D Adams, C Watson, D Johnson, G Davis, OBJ
TE: Kincaid, Kmet, Goedert

Taxi: Willis, DTR, Mims, K Miller, Demercado, Vaughn

Picks
2024: 1.08, 2.02
2025: 1, 3, 4, 5
2026: 1, 2, 2, 3, 4, 5

Not sure you really need a lot of advice with that team. But since you're asking, I'd draft Barkley, Guice, and 2 QBs with your first 4 picks, and package the rest of the picks for whoever you like. Or donate them to the worst team in the league since you'll be dominating for years to come.
