1.05 Conundrum - SUPERFLEX

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

1.05 Conundrum - SUPERFLEX

Postby CheddarBayBiscuits » Mon Apr 23, 2018 7:52 am

I will take Barkley at 1.01 and then pick again at 1.05.

The same team owns 1.02, 1.03, and 1.04. Through trade talks, I learn that they will be taking 2 QBs and likely the best WR available. They are not big on Guice, but they might take a different RB (Chubb/Michel) depending on landing spots.

With my roster (in sig), would you take a QB or just best available (Guice or maybe Chubb/Michel, depending on landing spots)?

I'd leave ALL options open, but most likely take Guice. If he lands in a bad situation and your top QB falls to 5, take the QB. I don't know anything about your IDP, but it looks like you may be a year away from fully competing so trading down from the 1.05 and adding another 2019 1st may be beneficial as well.

If Guice is there, I probably go that route. Overall, I'd lean with taking best available at that spot.

Definitely going to play it by ear and, obviously, at lot of things will change this weekend.

My team is fairly competitive because of the weight IDP carries in this league. Even with adding Barkley and another top 5 pick, I wouldn't say I'm a contender in 2018 but I'm also not far off, so I'm hesitant to move back to add more picks. After this draft I'll probably be looking to move future picks for players, given the youth of my team.

I think it's always best to just take the best player available regardless of need, you can then use that player or another player at his position to trade for what you need. If you have even grades on players then draft the one you need. I'm in a similar position in one of my SF leagues, I own 1,2,3 overall and am stacked at RB and have no QBs, but I'll be taking Barkley, Guice and possibly Chubb and then using my RBs as trade pieces later on, or just keep them and work on finding my QBs later in the draft or other avenues. Draft for value, trade for need.

Yep, getting antsy with my QB situation after Wilson but should stick to BPA. I can always buy a stopgap older QB from a bad team in season.

Easily a QB over any non-QB you are considering with that pick.

Depends on which QB is available. If one of Darnold or Rosen is there, I take them. If not, I prefer Guice.

QB is your biggest need without a doubt, but I'd grab Guice if he fell. Dynasty is a marathon, not a sprint. If Guice doesn't fall to 5, then take the best QB available

I'd take any of Rosen, Mayfield, or Darnold there at 1.05. If Guice is there, I'd have to consider where he's landed.

Those rookie QBs, if a top 10 NFL pick is placed on them, will have highly insulated value as they'll be afforded a year of sucking. Guice won't get that kind of treatment.

I feel as though if he falls you need to take Guice here... I know its tempting to take a QB but as you said, you can definitely get a stop-gap mid-season. That said, I'm a firm believer that you should take the BPA regardless of current needs but can certainly understand if you choose to go QB. That said, whatever happens, I think you'll be satisfied either way.

BPA. You can use another QB with Tanny and Bradford on the roster. But, I wouldn't take any of them if there's a Rb you like. It'd be hard for me to pass on a Guice or Chubb (landing spots will separate them).

BPA....any QB you take probably isn't going to help you this year....they are all 2-3 years away....but wait to see where guys land...opportunity is just as important as talent.....think the last couple years of Henry, Mixon etc.....
