Startup Draft, How'd I do

Postby RCS » Fri Apr 20, 2018 7:12 am

Saw a couple of these posted so i thought I would throw my team out here.

We completed a 12 team IDP startup draft about 3 weeks or so ago.

I also had the honor (complete sarcasm) of picking 1.01 and grabbed Hopkins.

.5 ppr, tight end is a full point ppr. Start 1 qb, 2 RB, 3 WR and a flex for offense, kicker, 2 DL, 3 LB, 2 DB and a extra IDP

Qbs- A. Luck, J. Winston, Eli
RB- J. Howard, T. Cohen, R. Burkhead, L. Blount, J. Williams, C. Carson, J.Connor, D. Foreman, CJ Prosise
WR- Hopkins, D.Adams, Watkins, Fitz, Mack Hollins, C. Henderson, Z.Jones, M.Lee, T.Taylor
TE- Gronk, H.Henry,RSJ
K-Vinatieri
DL-M.Garrett,S.Thomas
LB-Z.Cunningham, J.Davis,R.Foster,H.Riddick, A.Hitchens
DB-B.Baker(who i got in every single league), J.Peppers, M.Hooker

Biggest miss on my part i feel was missing on A.Rob and took Jordan Howard instead, i knew it was a mistake as soon as i hit submit on the MFL app.

0 2018 picks, i went for players instead.

Thanks for the input.

Your rbs are weak. I like howard but not as my RB1, plus your RB2 is howards back up. Rest of your team looks nice but I don't love that you traded away your 2019 picks

Agree on the weak RBs. Time to start seeing if you can flip some players for an upgrade at RB. Find someone who really like Cohen because having the 2 running backs from the same team as your starters isn't going to go well for you throughout the season, unless they can magically turn into some form of Ingram/Kamara.
12 team 0.5 pt PPR; 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 2 Flex
QB: Rodgers, Prescott, Lauletta (R)
RB: Gordon, Ajayi, Collins, Yeldon, Ekeler, Martin, Grant, Mizzell, David Williams, Jeffery Wilson, Warren
WR: Cooks, Boyd, Marvin Jones, Lockett, Coleman, Doctson, Goodwin, Cobb, T. Williams, Z. Jones, Roberts, Tate (R), Cain (R), Ellington, Cody Core, Beebe
TE: Kelce, Cook, Conklin, LaCosse
2019 Picks: 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 5

12 team 1 pt PPR SF IDP; 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 1 SFlex, 3 Flex, 1DL, 1LB, 1DB, 1 IDP Flex
QB: Newton, Stafford, Bortles, Kessler
RB: Hunt, Mixon, Lewis, Ekeler, Thompson, Bernard, Davis, Blount
WR: Evans, Lockett, Marvin Jones, Sanders, Lee, Pettis, Crabtree, Cole, Ateman, Lasley
TE: Rudolph, Seals-Jones
DL: Jordon, Ingram
LB: Jarrad Davis, Alonso, Avery Williamson, Warner, Van Noy, Golden, Baker, Shaun Dion Hamilton
DB: Poyer, Kazee, Collins, Jenkins, Cyprien
2019 Picks: 1.05, 2.05, 3.05, 4.05, 5.05, 6.05, 7.05

No clue about the idp part, but I like your team. You did the right thing of taking Howard imo. Your WRs look great and I like the QB duo of Luck/Winston (can sell Winston if Luck comes back to full form) and you just need some RB work behind Howard

Where did you take Gronk and Henry? That's the one area that looks questionable to me having too much power there in a non TE premium and missing out on a better RB2. If Gronk fell far too far because of the retirement talk, then I would like it
Team 1- 10 team ppr, 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 2Flx, 1D, 1K

picks-
2024- 1,1,1,1,2,2,2,3,3,4,5,5
2025 1,1,1,2,3,4,5

Yeah i've tried shopping Cohen already, I gambling that a Foreman, Williams and or Carson becomes a solid RB #2

Gronk rd 5, tight ends arent to much of a premium tight ends are 1 full point ppr while rbs and wr are .5

Winston and Luck is personally my favorite combo getting Jamis round 20 and Luck rd 9

Thanks for the input everyone.

Checked out the draft, Hunter Henry in the 4th is a no for me. I also wouldn't have taken Watkins over Hilton. I would've rather seen you take Ingram on the 4/5 turn instead of Henry Watkins then trading up for Gronk

I think it looks fairly good for a startup. Agree with others that your RBs aren't great, but if you can find a decent RB2, the rest of your guys might be able to carry your team and make it competitive.
