Contender, or work to do?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Contender, or work to do?

Postby jetsfan5757 » Thu Apr 19, 2018 10:59 pm

Same team as my signature below. I *should* be able to add Saquon to my team in rookie auction because I think I'll have over 1/3 of my cap available and only a few spots to fill.

Last year I was really hopeful, but injuries and bad luck conspired to keep my out of the playoffs altogether. With that still stinging I wanted to get a reality check if necessary. The team below, plus Saquon, should be a contender, right?

Non PPR, 10 team league.
QB (start 1): Mariota, Carr
RB (start 3): David Johnson, D. Henry, L. Miller, T. Coleman, I. Crowell, C. Thompson, D'Onta Foreman, E. McGuire, J. Hill
WR (start 3): D. Hopkins, M. Evans, D. Adams, M. Crabtree, J. Smith-Schuster, D. Parker, J. Doctson, J. Ross
TE (start 2): Hunter Henry, O.J. Howard
K (1): Some guy
DB: Landon Collins
LB: Kwon Alexander
DL: JJ Watt

Assuming standard PPR and IDP scoring, yes you are pretty loaded. TE is the obvious need. If you score Barkley then try and flip Miller/Crowell for a strong TE/WR piece.
Team 1 - Old King Clancys - 12 Team IDP PPR / 2015 Runner-Up, 2016 Champions, 2018 Champions
(1QB/1RB/4 FLEX/1TE/1PK/1PN/2DE/3LB/2DB)
QB: Brees/Mariota
RB: Gordon/Crowell/White/Murray/Ajayi/I.Smith
WR: OBJ/Nuk/Cooper/Boyd/Lockett/MVS/Sanu/Sanders
TE: Kelce/Goedert/Smith/Uzomah
PK : Fairbairn
PN: Dickson
DE/DT: Ingram/Beasley
LB: David/T.Smith/McKinney/J.Brown
DB: Nea/lJenkins/Maye

Team 2 - Yeti Crabs - 10 Team 2 QB PPR TE PREM IDP
QB: Cousins/Keenum/Mahomes/Hundley
RB: Barkley/Cook/Henry/Gallman
WR: Evans/Cooper/A-Rob/Brown/Kirk/Hurns/Boyd
TE: Graham/Hooper/Higbee/Jonnu/Butt
DT: Short/Atkins
DE: Hunter/Wilkerson/Allen
LB: Hicks/Lee/McKinney/Davis/Perryman
CB: Hayward/Darby
S: Neal/Vacarro/Peppers/Williams

all of the PFF analysis that is going out indicates that "some guy" is generally good enough to score you the 7-10 points that most kickers get each week. I would be careful in attempting to move some guy, he has proven pretty stable and is undervalued right now.

The rest of your team looks pretty good. I do see some ?? at TE, but assuming that Hunter Henry finally ascends, you might be fine.
Too many teams and lineup changes to keep track of them all.

Yeah. I thought I was set a few years back with Lada rousing and Fleener. That didn't work out.

Now, I feel good about Henry, but less so about Howard. Had Hugh hopes for him until they resigned Brate...

Even without Barkley you should be a contender, but adding him to the mix makes it that much better.
