This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

OBJ trade - plz evaluate

Postby mogr76 » Thu Apr 19, 2018 3:45 pm

Hi,
recently traded OBJ along with Greg Olsen. Got the following in return.
2018 1.03
2018 1.08
Demaryius Thomas
Trey Burton
Eric Ebron (had Jack Doyle - therefore let Olsen go to get younger)
Amara Darboh
Carlos Henderson

How did I do?

It's a 12-team PPR.

Not every good I'm afraid. You need to get a top 5-10 player back for OBJ if you deal him.

You could have gotten more. The players in return are average..at their best. The 1.3 and 1.8...could be something..

The 1.03 was a good starting point, but the rest was not good enough when trading a player like OBJ

I hate to break it to u bro, but I'm gonna pile on. Any time you let a guy like Odell go, you need something elite coming back. You need major difference makers and you didn't get that. 1.03 might be a difference maker but your odds of getting an elite guy just aren't great there. I personally never like to be on the side of a trade where you're giving 2 premium assets and getting a bunch of lesser assets...

Gotta agree with everyone else. Should have removed the fluff (Burton, Ebron, Darboh, and Henderson) and gotten some much better pieces instead.

Thanks for all the opinions. I'm hoping to strike gold with 1.03 and 1.08 paired with my own 1.04. I know the receivers are lottery tickets.

You all have a great weekend.

real bad dude but its all good learn and bounce back. i think if you hit on 3 and 8 you will be just fine but ya he needs to be sold for at least 1.01 or a better piece along with the picks than DT or trey burton (both of whom i like)

everything after trey burton is essentially waiver wire trash, and burton is only a small step above that.

You lost the trade based on value. The only thing that would turn it around is if both of your 1.03 and 1.08 turn into studs, which is tough to do. And, even if they do turn into studs, you still could/should have gotten those studs and another significant piece.

Too many teams and lineup changes to keep track of them all.

I wouldn't have traded OBJ alone for all that trash.

Not to mention you traded the best TE for TWO avg TEs

Not following your logic in making that move at all.
Fig Newtons - 12 team superflex .5 ppr, qb, 2 rb, 3 wr, te, Flex, SF
QB - Dak, Brissett, Purdy
RB - Najee, Swift, J.Robinson, D.Henderson, McKinnon,
WR - M.Thomas, D.Hop, DJ Moore, Miller, G.Davis, MVS
TE - Kittle, Gesicki, Hockenson
Picks: 2023 - 1, 2, 2, 3, 4

Young Newts - 14 team .25 ppr Superflex, qb, 2 rb, 3 wr, te, wr/rb, OP
QB - Allen, Wilson, Cousins
RB - Chubb, L.Bell, Ingram, K.Johnson, Mack, T.Coleman
WR - M.Thomas, OBJ, Woods, Moore, Godwin, R.Anderson
TE - Gesicki, Witten, Irv
Picks: 2022 - 3, 4, 5

DirkaDirka - 12 team PPR Superflex
QB: Mayfield, Allen, M.Ryan, Bridgewater, Mond
RB: Mixon, Swift, Sanders, Ekeler, DJ, Kerryon
WR: Tyreek, A.Cooper, D.Adams, A-Rob, C.Davis, P.Williams, V.Jefferson, Duverney
TE: Kelce, Rudolph, Hollister
2022: All picks

You got the 1.3 and a bag of change.

For next time when dealing away a top stud, you need another stud coming back plus some draft picks or 1 or 2 good players.

For the records, I acquired OBJ by giving up Keenan Allen, Mixon, and a late 1st. I feel this was a pretty fair deal for both parties. KA is still a very solid player so the drop back from OBJ isn't as harsh, and then he gets two more good assets for the step back
Team 1- 10 team ppr, 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 2Flx, 1D, 1K
2022: 1-8
Finishes: 6th, 6th, 1st, 5th, 6th, 9th
QB: Lamar Jackson, Purdy

WR: JSN, QJ, Addison, Dotson, Skyy Moore, Jameson Williams, Hyatt, T Dell, Boutte, Skowronek, Quez Watkins, Greg Dortch, waiver trash
TE: Hockenson, F Monroe, Juwan, Musgrave
D/K: Patriots, Vikings, Saints, Dicker

picks-
2024- 1,1,1,1,2,2,2,3,3,4,5,5
2025 1,1,1,2,3,4,5

team 2- 12 team SF, .5PPR, .5TE boost, 1QB, 1SF, 2 RB, 3WR, 1TE, 2Flex
2022: 8-1
Finishes: 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd :wall:
