Jimmy Garoppolo Value

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Jimmy Garoppolo Value

Postby hudini33 » Thu Apr 12, 2018 9:07 am

An owner in my league just put him on the trading block, but I have no idea what his value is based on his small sample size. Thoughts?

Also, is it even worth it with my stable of QBs? I like the idea of getting a younger qb to go with my vets.

You have no need for Garoppolo in 1QB given your QB depth. It would likely require an overpay.

I came to say thanks for not abbreviating his name to "Jimmy G", thereby forcing us to assume you don't mean Jimmy Graham.

As to your question, I wouldn't use any of your resources to acquire him unless you can swap one of your older QBs for Garappolo w/out spending much.
Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.

What are the other teams needs? Is he a contender, rebuilding, middle of the pack? I think you have plenty of depth at qb, but to add a high upside young qb if you can get him on the cheap for your 4th wr and possibly a 3rd rd pick I'd go for it.

I was in a very similar situation and just completed the following deal.

Gave: Ryan, Hooper, 2.8
Got: Jimmy, Doyle, 3.6

I originally had offered Ryan, 2.8 for Jimmy, 3.8.

I had Ryan and Brees and was looking to get a bit younger without giving up much. I’m actually hoping the hype train picks up more steam and I’ll flip Jimmy as I’m not a huge fan but felt like this was pretty good value.

I would try Ryan, 3.1 or even Ryan, ASJ, 3.1 for Jimmy an a later 3 back and go from there.

I wouldn't mind trading for him and getting younger at the position. However, I'd do it if you can include one of your other QBs in the deal and add something small (maybe a 2nd).

I disagree you need Garoppolo, Manning can be dropped, he isn't anything more then a bye week WW replacement, Ryan may keep you in the game but he isn't going to win you any. Garoppalo may have a small test size but going 5-0 with SF last year with no body to throw to and still putting up those number, you will want to get him whiles he cheap. Get a soon to be Top 5 QB instead of borderline Top 10.

I'd easily ship Ryan or Rivers with a medium something on your side. 2nd round etc...
Team 1 (18/19 Champ)
QB- Rivers, Jimmy G, Flacco
RB- LF, Kamara, Henry, Ito, Barber, RoJo, Harris, Brieda,
WR- Hopkins, Evans, Golladay, Foster, McLaurin, Perriman
TE- Kelce, Eifert, Knox, Gronk
Taxi-R Ridley, Love

Team 2 (16/18/19 Champ)
QB- Watson, Goff
RB- Zeke, CMC, Gordon, Chubb, R Freeman, Hunt
WR- MT, M Williams, Kupp, Campbell, Chark, Ross
TE- Henry, Hooper, Andrews

Team 3 (17/18 Champ)
QB- Stafford, Murray
RB- Cook, Gurley, Lindsay, Mixon, Drake
WR- OBJ, Hopkins, TY, Kupp, K Johnson, Parker, Renfrow, Ross
TE- Kittle, I Thomas

Team 4 SF
QB- Wentz, Kelly, Lamar, Brissett, Luck, RG3
RB- Chubb, Cook, KJ, Sony, Montgomery, Gallaman, Sproles

Of course he should try, and I'm a big Garoppolo fan, but realistically he would have to lose this trade to get him. Rivers + 1.10? Agholor + 1.10? Those offers may not even be enough get it done. Is that really worth overpaying for Garoppolo in a 1QB league when Ryan and Rivers will be decent mid/low-end QB1s in fantasy?
