1.01 (4 years) for Melvin Gordon (2 years)?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

1.01 (4 years) for Melvin Gordon (2 years)?

Postby Mr. Wizard » Wed Mar 21, 2018 11:04 am

I'm in a contract league and the guy who has pick 1.01 is currently shopping it. In our contract league, when you draft a rookie, you have them for four years. I have Melvin Gordon under very cheap control for another two years. If I could get him to bite on that, do you think swapping for Barkley would be worth it, or would I be better off not messing with a good thing? Bird in hand being worth more than two in the bush and all.

I can’t imagine anyone preferring two year of Melvin Gordon to four years of Saquon Barkley. If I met someone like that, I’d probably kindly suggest they take up a new hobby.
Both are 12-team 1QB PPR dynasties

Most would take Barkley over Gordon regardless of contracts. Having two extra years of Barkley makes it less close.

I can think of 25 rbs I'd rather have than the quantity over quality and very easily replaceable Gordon. Barkley is certainly one of those many.
Gordon reminds me of those problem people that everyone can see has problems except the parents (owners).

Cashing out like this is the lottery of dynasty.

Okay, that’s all fair. I’m not madly in love with Gordon and have Hunt anyway, we’re just still new to the dynasty business and I wasn’t sure how trading proven talent for a promising rookie is typically evaluated. I wouldn’t say there are TWENTY backs I’d rather have than Gordon, he’s still very productive, but I get your point about quantity vs quality.

He might not even do it, but I’ll give it a whirl.

You mean like if my child was a straight A student, but had to study a little more than other students to get those good grades and still goes to an Ivy League school?

Edit: I should add that the kid has to study extra because his teachers are terrible and can't block, I mean teach very well.
