1.01 For Trubisky/1.03 in a Superflex

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

1.01 For Trubisky/1.03 in a Superflex

Postby craigii » Mon Mar 19, 2018 2:52 pm

For team #1 in my signature. This is a superflex league. I have been offered the 1.01 in exchange for Trubisky and the 1.03. My initial reaction is to reject, but I could certainly use Barkley to improve my RBs. I also hold the 2.03 (I got Trubisky here last year), which I could use to grab a rookie QB. I have considered countering, with him throwing in the 2.01 with the 1.01? What would you do in my spot?

With only having Bortles and Tannehill behind and aging Brees, I'm not sure I'd do this. Trubisky is arguably your best dynasty QB and if you move him without replacing him, you're going to be in a very tough spot once Brees hangs it up. Value-wise it's not bad, but don't think it makes a ton of sense for your team. And I doubt you can get any of the top QBs in the 2nd round this year. Last year's class was supposed to be bad and didn't have the hype of this year's, so trying to replace him with a 2nd rounder isn't very realistic.

Barkley

Can always find young QB's. Can't always find 1.01, #1 overall RB level talent
12 team league - 1/2 ppr, 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex (WR/RB/TE)

QB - Dak Prescott , Alex Smith, Sam Darnold
RB - Ezekiel Elliott , Carlos Hyde , James White, TY Montgomery, Ronald Jones
WR - Mike Evans , Davante Adams , Dez Bryant, Robby Anderson, Zay Jones, Courtland Sutton
TE - Hunter Henry, Tyler Eifert, Rico Gathers, RSJ

In a superflex, it's much harder finding a good, young QB than it is finding a good RB. Not only that, you'd be adding the 1.03 to the QB, which would make it an overpay.

I think I take 1.1.
Trubisky is certainly no sure thing and because it's superflex you don't "have" to start 2QBs. I say grab Barkley and then try to capitalize on the ridiculous hype of McKinnon by packaging him with Bortles or Tannehill for another mid to lower end QB. You could also trade a guy like Landry to downgrade slightly at WR but also pick up another piece in the process to build or package for a QB.

Barkley isn't a sure thing either, as much as people are convinced he is. And yes, you don't have to start a QB at flex, but I'd rather start an average QB that will put up 15 points than a RB3/WR4/TE2 type of guy. Looking at the OPs roster, his depth isn't that great to put in someone other than a QB at flex. There's no way the gap between 1.01 and 1.03 is a young QB with upside. I do like the idea of moving McKinnon and Bortles or Tannehill for a better QB, but still wouldn't make this trade unless the 1.01 side was adding something decent.

In Superflex, definitely Trubisky and 1.03.
