1.6 vs Engram

Postby doombringer » Sun Mar 18, 2018 9:54 am

12 team ppr league. qb/2rb/2wr/te/2flex

I have a solid team but a despicable TE situation. Ebron, Kroft, and Nick Vannett.

Ryan
LAC/ATL/HOU/Drake
Evans/Green/Diggs/Funchess/Arob/stills

I feel as if I can win this league, but not with this current TE group, I just cant see it.

Should I pull the trigger or wait for other options.

If someone offered me Engram for 1.06, it's an instant accept for me.

Engram is very good, but his targets and receptions to a degree where a results of the giants having no other healthy wrs. I would be hesitant to believe he continues on the productivity due to the fact that his targets should not be that high with Odell back or even the possible addition of Saquon Barkley

i would take 1.6 but its close

I consider Engram in the 1.06-1.08 range value so it's the best price someone could get for him.

Edit : And i see another tier down after 1.06 in this draft so 1.07 and 1.08 should be refused

Your TE situation is rough, but I also feel like Engram is overpriced right now due to his perfect storm of a rookie season. I still like Njoku and Howard better long term, and those two can be had for much less. Maybe you could flip Drake for one of those guys if their owners have a need at RB.

That said, if you’re an Engram believer and you think 2017 is more likely the rule than the exception, that seems like a fair price based on where he’s currently valued. I’ve seen him go for more, so if he’s your guy, go for it.

I have Engram in the 1.06-1.07 range so pretty even deal to me and makes sense given your TE situation.

I think the 1.6 is buying him at the highest point. I think there are other TE’s to be had for a lot cheaper. I’d look that way first and if you can’t get anything done circle back.

That's a decent price for Engram. A lot of owners want an early 1st, which I wouldn't pay, but 1.06 seems reasonable.

Engram pretty easily for me. He's my TE4 behind the big 3. I get the concern with him getting less targets this season. But OBJ coming back should open up the middle of the field and draw a ton of attention away. Plus if he keeps developing the sky is the limit. He could be a healthy Jordan Reed.

I would rather have Engram than the 1.06. Having a solid TE that will be around for a while is well worth it.

This. Let’s just assume for a moment that the big 5 at RB are gone by 1-5. Outside of Barkley (and to some extent, even him) offer major bust potential from 2-5. They are lotto picks. All draft picks are. Why give up a young TE that can play both TE and WR, and that absolutely broke everything we know about TEs and their development for a lotto pick? if you are a gambling man, then do it. If you want a proven TE/WR hybrid that you can likely set and forget for the next decade, don’t.

And to those questioning his appeal once OBJ is back, I’d like to highlight three points.

1- last year, even when everyone and their mothers knew the ball was coming Evans way, defenses couldn’t stop him. He lined up in so many different places where you couldn’t play a zone to target him, and if you played man, he burned you.

2- If Eli finds the foundation of youth this year, great, he’ll get the ball to Engram. If he doesn’t and continues to regress, Engram is a solid safety blanked. After this year, a likely young QB or a bad one off of FA signings will play shot caller in NY, this only helps Engram as again, TEs are the best friend to a crappy or young QB. ALL of these scenarios result in Engram sustaining if not surpassing last year.

3- A healthy Odell and Shepherd translate into good things for Engram. This allows him the middle of the field to operate, and almost assures he doesn’t draw double coverage nor the emphasis of game planning.

Yes, I do own him, and yes I may be impartial, but a TE like Engram comes around every so often. It doesn’t hurt that I have Rudolph who is now tied to Cousins, and Njoku whom I agree can potentially top Engram, but unless I’m getting 1.2 plus, or another proven weekly starter (not flex) he’s not going anywhere.

Never trade a player for less value because of your personal depth, imo. Depth only makes a player tradeable, but not for any subjective value. Can’t tell you how many offers I get for Njoku with the contrary message that drive me bonkers.

this is a preference decision. I would make the choice based on need. For me I go with the 1.6. If I need a TE I would consider it. Not sure its an instant accept though.

I traded my 2017 2nd round pick over selecting Engram for a 2019 1st round pick. Guy selected Engram and that 1st round pick turned into the 1.6. So I would do it.
