1.12 and G. Everett for O.J. Howard and '19 2nd

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Howard side for me as well, but you're going to have to be patient.

I think I read a tweet about Brate's contract that said it was all front loaded. The team would not have a cap hit for cutting him after 2018. If that's true, it seems written to give Howard a chance to acclimate. If you have the roster space and time to wait, I'd stick with Howard.

It's a tight league with only 20 slots available for non-D and non-Kicker (and you stupidly have to keep Kicker and Defense on roster at all times). I've somehow managed to miss the playoffs all 3 years despite having what I felt was a strong roster (starting lineup typically of Dalton-Gurley-OBJ-Evans-Flex (Watkins) and a streamer TE). On the positive side I've slowly been making trades to acquire lots of picks every year to take my shots and try to get every position strong despite the fact that the picks are determined by lottery (slot 1 to 6) and more normatively by playoff finish for 7-12). I was unlucky in 2016 landing the 4 slot, and again last year landing the 5 slot (I turned them into Doctson (since traded) and Cook), but I got my luck at the right time landing the 1.01 this year. So before this trade I had 1.01, 1.12, 2.01, 2.06, 2.11 and 3.02 (I traded Doctson, and the 1.11 for Will Fuller and the 1.12 a few weeks before FA hit). My one frustration has been in trying to acquire a backup QB, just can't get a deal done, the asking price is consistently just too much for a 1 QB league in my view (someone trying to pry my 1.12 before this trade for Matt Ryan for instance). So following this trade my core and bench would look like this:

Core:

Goff

Gurley
Cook

OBJ
Evans
Watkins
Fuller

Engram
OJ Howard
Jonnu Smith

Bench:
Aaron Jones
M. Mack
M. Davis/CJ Prosise

Lockett
Tyrell Williams
C Samuel

I was looking at his contract on one of the cap sites before I agreed to the deal and noticed that the guaranteed signing bonus hit's like this:

2018: 7 million
2019: 7 million
2020: 4 million

Makes me imagine that he could be cut w/o consequence during or following the 2020 season. I decided I could live with that. I have
a core that to my mind occupies about 10 of my roster spot plus Barkley who I'll be adding at 1.01 barring a trade. That leaves me a decent amount of roster room to keep Howard even if he doesn't produces for quite a while though I do have five draft picks this year, and after this deal, another 5 in '19's potentially loaded WR draft.
