What to do with My WR Situation..

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

What to do with My WR Situation..

Postby colonnaj94 » Sat Mar 17, 2018 1:13 pm

Hey guys, so for team 2 in my signature, I am currently the league champion.. However, I do not feel great about my WR situation at all.. I have Michael Thomas, who I am a huge fan of, but beyond that.. it gets pretty ugly.

I don't see Jarvis Landry producing top-5 WR numbers again any time soon, and I'd be lucky if he could even finish as a top 15 WR.

I think Marvin Jones had his ceiling season in 2017, I didn't even see that type of production coming, though I did like him as a WR4 heading into last season..Out-performed expectations, but I'm worried for the future, is it sustainable?

Fitzgerald & Pierre Garcon are nice win now depth pieces, but long term.. not so much.

I don't know what to think of Crowder & Lee.. I'm really not a fan of either, but I got them pretty cheap.. I was hoping to package both of these two for an upgrade..

Moncrief's value is all but gone..

Pryor's in the same boat as Moncrief

I just feel like beyond Michael Thomas, & I guess Larry Fitzgerald (Though I'm not counting on Fitz for 2019 & beyond) I'm going to have a below average WR core in 2018, and I'm a bit worried about that. What should I look to do with this group, to be prepared for 2018, 2019 & Beyond?

Right now, it's not looking good in the long-term.. I want to try and fix this situation before it's too late.. But how can I do that?

Firstable congrats for your championship

If i see your future picks, i suppose you traded your best ones to have this team and you were right cause you won. It's the risk to go all-in in a win now strategy. But the bad side, you have to rebuild a bit to repeat. For me it's an exciting transition.

QB : I would sell Mariota (and hold Rivers who's got 2-3 years of production)

RB : LF, Gurley are great as a stud combo. Behind it's a mix of above average (Miller, Crowell, McKinnon), below average (Abdullah, Booker, Ivory), old (Murray) and almost retired (Gore, AP)

WR : For 2018 you've got a good quatuor with Thomas, Landry, Marvin and Fitz. Garcon is the best 5th of this group and behind Lee, Crowder are average, Moncrief, Pryor and D.Robinson are useless.

TE : Henry and nothing else. Ebron is already overlooked, Witten is nearly over as Gates and Anderson will never see your starting lineup.

You need to sell against young pieces or picks ;) I won't move Fitz cause now nobody will pay a good price, hold it until the end. Thomas is untradable. Try to move Jones or Landry.

If Murray find a good place, i sell too. Plus one between the three RBs i mentionned as above average. It could be more than fine at this position.

Conclusion : Sell Mariota, Murray, Miller/Crowell/McKinnon, Landry/Jones and try to get luck in the draft or bet on potential already in NFL.

But each his turn to win ! :ewink: It's harder and rare to repeat than having one championship for sure.

Package McKinnon with Landry to upgrade. If everyone is in love with McKinnon like they are on these boards, you might find a suitor quickly. I always feel like you can find a RB2 just about anywhere so given he's currently your 3 or 4 he's the glaring piece to package.

Time to package. Landry and one or two of your lesser RBs (i.e. any RB other than Fournette and Gurley).

Thanks for the responses everyone. I have a team who might be interested in working out a Landry+ for Alshon deal.. Do you think it's worth it? What would you guys give along with Landry?

I wouldn't give anything on top of Landry to get Alshon. I think Landry is worth more than Alshon especially in PPR.

Landry+ for Alshon ? :? I really think it's more Landry for Alshon+ specially in PPR. I have Landry, wouldn't add anything for Jeffery and won't accept a straight up. I think i would like a high 2nd rounder pick along even a low 1st (somewhere between 10-15th choice in a 12 team so)

Points rankings in my PPR league between 2015-2017

2015 - Landry : 7th
2015 - Jeffery : 44th

2016 - Landry : 14th
2016 - Jeffery : 56th

2017 - Landry : 5th
2017 - Jeffery : 23th

Average points rankings per week (cause of Jeffery injuries)

2015 - Landry : 10th
2015 - Jeffery : 11th

2016 - Landry : 16th
2016 - Jeffery : 39th

2017 - Landry : 6th
2017 - Jeffery : 28th

So Landry is fantasy-wise better whatever Jeffery is in or out. It's just day and night. Numbers don't lie. Don't make this mistake. Jeffery was 2013 superstar and really good in 2014. Since he's just a Jag. In fact i'm even too nice when i see those numbers and i said a low 1st...

I would go a different route. I would sell Jimmy GQ or Mckinnon. Their hype is out of control. Keep Mariota because his value has dipped.

Instant reject for me as a Kelce owner. You need to pay a premium for Kelce.

First is good (and i like this "package garbage" to fill in but i reduce this trade to Landry and 2.09 for Jeffery and Kelce. Basically you could win)

Second is an overpay. I would take off Crowell.

Making Landry/Jeffrey the centerpiece of a trade does not to anything to solve your WR problem.

You seem to also not be a fan of draft picks...

I'd look again at the advice that you received here.

I like the first option better than the second. How did it go?
