It feels light for Cooper... thoughts?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

It feels light for Cooper... thoughts?

Postby moishetreats » Tue Mar 06, 2018 10:47 am

Good morning, folks!

I was offered the following for Cooper for Team 1 in sig. RC was the second-worst team in 2017 but has made many moves to become more competitive already.

It feels light... Thoughts? If I could get, say, Robbie Anderson added, would that be enough? My gut still says "no"...

Thank you!

Getting two 1sts isn't a terrible return, but with neither of them being this year, I agree you should get more. The players you'd be getting in the deal don't excite me at all, so if you can take them all out and add an actual good player (not Robby), then I'd make the trade.

I am not that high on Cooper but this seems like a lot of filler, especially in a 10 team. 2019 1st might be valuable but could easily be a mid-1st. I don't see the value in this trade.

2 1sts + 3 2nds (Perine, Jackson, ASJ) is enough for me to say goodbye to Cooper.

I have said this on this site for a long time.
Cooper is absolute fool's gold.

The leading receiver on the Raiders last season was Jared Cook with 688 yards. Are you kidding me?????

I would not give a single first for Cooper, let alone all of this. This offseason will be the last time you can ever trick someone into getting this much for him - do it while you can. I own zero shares of Cooper and am proud of it.

For what it is worth

In one of my Dynasty 12 team PPR leagues, I just dealt Ertz and Crowder to get Cooper

Ew. Ertz alone > Cooper for me.

Yup. In fact, I'd call it an overpay for Cooper, but it gives you a first next year and the year after and I think ASJ might actually turn into something after his rocky start. Every other player in this trade is average at best (INCLUDING Cooper).

There is a lot of clutter.. But you are basically getting 2 1sts, 2 2nds & some depth/fliers.

I would easily take that for Coop.

Based on your team roster I wouldnt do it - it looks like your roster is more ready to compete than not based on the # of teams and it being 2 QB and you having 2 Studs and 1 above average QB, your WR core being in their prime, Gurley, Mixon and your choice of any RB not named Barkley.

Will any of those players make your starting roster? If the answer is no - then it doesnt matter if they are worth a 2nd or not, and in a 10 team league I'd say they are more likely to be worth 3rds at best.

Keep Cooper, or exchange those 4 non essential players for 1 good player like Goddard suggested. It doesnt matter if you get 2 1sts if both firsts end up being 1.09/1.10.
Please speak to clarion contrarion before considering the use of vetos..

Thank you all for your comments and thoughts. I really appreciate the back-and-forth.

My initial reaction was similar to @ArrylT's post right above might -- looking at my team, Cooper just makes a ton more sense. That being said, it is hard to leave value on the table, and I still wonder if that is exactly what I would be doing.

Bunch of mediocre parts and some far out picks. If you wanna go for it but surely someone will offer something better.

Between the Gruden factor and the "he was injured" news, his perceived value has gone back up. No need to rush in moving him.

Final trade below -- and I feel much better about this. I cut out the dead weight in Perine, D. Jackson, and Kearse. I got Anderson and Doctson instead. And I swapped out a 2020 1st and got a 2019 1st in its place.

Thank you all again!

This is a decent return for him. The other trade was pretty terrible imo. He's come back down to Earth from his over inflated value, but he's not complete garbage like these people are making him sound. He'll likely bounce back and become a really nice WR2 with WR1 upside.
