Need some advice and thoughts on John Ross Please vote

Postby finkle1121 » Mon Feb 26, 2018 9:20 am

For the team in my signature as you can tell my wrs aren't the strongest. I been shopping 2.02 which is the 14th pick for a wr. The best I can do right now is probably John Ross. I don't know if I believe in Ross especially in ppr but I do need a younger wr. Am I best holding the pick and maybe drafting one or do I take a chance with Ross who was the 9th overall pick in the nfl draft. I don't see them just giving up on him. Thanks
Team 1
12 team 30 player full ppr
Start 1QB,2RB,3WR,1TE,3FLEX

WR: Antonio Brown, Mike Evans, Woods, Edelman, Golden, Baldwin, Nelson, Garcon, John Brown, Ricardo Louis, Carlos Henderson

Both are crapshoots.

I'd take the guy with the high first round pedigree. At least Ross will get plenty of chances. I doubt you get someone drafted that high with the 2.02.

I’ll take Ross. He barely saw the field his rookie season so I’m not ready to judge or call him a bust. Historically receivers with high draft pedigree have a lower bust rate. Combine that with it usually taking 2-3 to develop and adjust to being a WR in the NFL and I can see a lot of people getting burned by jumping ship now.

2 examples of recent WRs who we all gave up on that are now valuable assets: Davante Adams (went from “complete bust/droppable” to a Top20 asset) and Nelson Agholor (from “complete bust/droppable” to Top50ish).

This is just ridiculous. One bad season and we're already calling guys busts now? He's a first round pick guys, he's going to get opportunity after opportunity to prove himself. He's talented, he's bound to hit his stride at some point. This is Ross all day...

I picked up Ross for the 5.03 in a 16 team league this off-season. He had been the 2.01 in that league. I'd buy up to a mid 3rd, he has lost some value over the past year
PPR IDP Contract Cap:
ConF (16 Team)
DAF (16 team)
DW2- Co-Commish (16 Team)

PPR IDP Salary Cap:
Hardcore - LAC (32 team)
T1 - Commish (12 team)
T2 - Commish (16 Team)

I take Ross. Marvin Lewis hates rookies. He will get his time to play this year.. Do you think you can draft someone better with that pick is the question? I think it's closer than ppl think. I happen to like Ross. I could be wrong tho

WRs taken in 1st round in the two years previous to last year:

2016: Corey Coleman, Will Fuller, Josh Doctson, Laquon Treadwell
2015: Amari Cooper, Kevin White, Devante Parker, Nelson Agholor, Breshard Perriman, Phil Dorsett

Not tons to get too excited about. I don't think draft capital is much of an indication of anything exactly other than the willingness for a team to not admit their mistake as quick for risk of looking silly to ownership and the fanbase. If I can sell Ross now for something decent I will and use that dart to try and hit on something else. If I am wrong, I am wrong but I don't think it's the type of trade you would ever really regret that much as it's not like you are moving an Odell Beckham type player. At best he turns into a WR2 on his team and in today's NFL you can find guys like that (see Marvin Jones, Sterling Shepard, Robert Woods (even tho he is their WR1), etc.) for fairly cheap.

Ross started hurt last year on a team that doesn't like rookies. I'm not ready to throw in the towel yet. With that being said I thank you could get good value with the 14th if this is a super flex. Ross is a stash and see
