serious trade help - offers on the table

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

serious trade help - offers on the table

Postby hjernazian » Thu Feb 22, 2018 2:50 am

I know I've posted seperate/a bunch of topics regarding some of these trades, but at last, it neared a conclusion in which I have to make a decision.

Initially tried to engage two other owners in a 3 team potential blockbuster deal that would send one owner: Shady, Alex Collins, D. Carr, 3.01, another owner: 1.06, C. Davis, C. Godwin, M. Mack, Jamal Williams, 2.05, and I would be getting L. Fournette, M. Lee, 2.09, 3.07, 2019 3rd rounder. I would be giving up C. Davis, Godwin, Mack, and 2.05 in this deal. As lopsided as it was for me, the entire deal fell apart because one guy refused to give up J. Williams and the guy reaping the most out of this, (1.06, C. Davis+) refused to accept that. We exchanged maybe 500+ texts over the past 3 days and thought we had a resolution, but Jamaal bleeping Williams got it nixed by a very, very stubborn owner (our comiss, owner of LF).

It's also important to note that our league is moving to superflex in 2019, so the dynamics of a 1 QB drastically changes.

The owner receiving Carr, Shady+ reached out to me saying he was done dealing the comish, and wanted to make me a separate deal.

So here is what I am thinking, before QB's get so valuable that they require first round assets/picks.

Accept Offer #1: M. Mack, C. Hogan (expensive contract), D. Carr for 1.06 and 3.06
*Mack and Hogan are bottom of bench guys for me, and I'm not a big believer in Carr.

Accept Offer #2: Pick 2.05 for P. Mahomes (would be my QB3 in a superflex league a year for now, behind Cam and Brees)

Reject and tell him to go bleep himself Offer #3: 1.06, C. Davis ($4), C. Godwin ($3) for L. Fournette and M. Lee

The first two seem like no brainers for me, especially since I can draft some cheap value at 1.06 or wait until the draft and reap much more value back then, but I feel my personal anger toward the comish in the 3rd deal nixing the 3 team may may be crowding my judgment. Essentially all 3 deals would have been made in our 3-team without me giving up Hogan. Also, my WR core of A.Rob, Hilton, Landry and Watkins are all relatively expensive. I have a feeling I'll have to move one come the end of next year to get under cap.

Thanks for your input in advance.

Take Mahomes deal now. He's going to be worth way more than that next year in Superflex.

Mahomes deal is the only one I would do. That's a steal. I'd hold onto Carr until 2019, you'll get much better return then.

Superflex coming in 2019, I'd hold Carr in the first deal

As others have said, you should have accepted Mahomes the moment that showed up in your inbox instead of coming here. A mid 2nd is barely more than Mahomes worth in regular 1QB, with SF coming only a year away that is an easy investment to make. Hopefully that offer is still there

very confused by the entire post but mahomes for a 2nd in a league transitioning to SF is a slam dunk.

giving up Carr for 1.06 is the opposite of what you said your goal was (buying qbs cheap now before they get expensive)

trade 3 is iffy but if i were him i would need a first to swap out fournette for Davis (had Davis done basically anything his rookie year it would be a different story) so you cant fault him too much for a high price IMO

I took the Mahomes deal. Thank you boys, I am new to SF and didn't realize how valuable QB's really are.

I also know I was advised not to, but I took the Carr, Mack and Hogan (high contract was going to cut) for 1.06 deal.
Picks are EXTREMELY valuable in our league. My hope is to flip that 1.06 for a solid RB. I was hoping to package it with Godwin and/or Njoku for either Joe Mixon or D. Henry, but both have declined.

Should I hold onto the 1.06? I keep doing research onto the draft class as until this point I did not own very many picks, or, is there a buy low candidate I should be looking to swap it for. And as always, thanks in advance.

Good luck with that pick then. I guess they aren't extreme enough to get your targets at RB so you must accept that you lost on that one. You would be able to get two 1sts for Carr once others recognized the importance of QBs in superflex. Live and learn.

Although I wouldn't have done trade, 1.6 could net u a very valuable piece. Unless guice falls to u there, u should definitely draft the best qb. Other owners might not have the foresight to capitalize on the upcoming format change. Try to trade for as many cheap qbs as u can.
