Is this an offensive superflex offer?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Is this an offensive superflex offer?

Postby chalorpas » Sun Feb 18, 2018 3:24 pm

This is a 16 Team, superflex, 4 pt per QB TD, 1 ppr and .25 ppc league. I offered a guy Blake bortles for lesean McCoy and Spencer ware and he basically said I was trying to rip him off. The guys only qbs are Eli Manning and Joshua Dobbs. Is this really that bad of an offer?

Have to say, I don't think it's insulting. McCoy can still play, but this is his age 30 season after all and Ware is a backup RB. He's not taking Hunt's job barring injury.

If my only QB's were Eli and Joshua Dobbs (I admit to needing to look him up to even know who he was...) I'd have considered making a move like this. Or at least countered. I would not however felt I was being fleeced.

That's not insulting at all IMO. Bortles is a solid fantasy QB and has a relatively safe job. For perspective, I sold Stafford in a 14 team superflex last season for McCoy, Watkins, McCown, 2018 1st, and 2018 4th.

When names like Taylor and Cousins are being mentioned in the same sentance as the Jags, you can't blame the guy for rejecting. His reaction slighlty over the top tho.

Not insulting at all. Bortles finished as a QB1 (#12) in my SF league.

It should not be seen as an offensive offer. But, if the guy is a regular reader of Rotoworld, they have been saying Bortles will be out of a job since the start of last season. This would explain his reaction.

True, but if his wrist surgery keeps him from passing a physical he's guaranteed a roster spot for 2018. That seems likely at this point, so I wouldn't worry to much about him being dead-weight. 2019 and beyond is a different story, one that will be heavily influenced by what he does on the field this season.

Definitely agree. Bortles has not been stellar by any means. But, the way Rotoworld runs him down, he must have stolen somebody's girlfriend over there or ran over their dog.

I believe McCoy has 1-2 season of elite-to-very-good production left, and he's a solid buy due to the typical ageism of dynasty owners.

That said, in a 16 team superflex, a starting 25 year old QB with 3rd overall draft capital and four seasons as a starter with mixed results is worth more. This format is going to have extreme QB scarcity.

I wouldn’t move Bortles for McCoy in a SF. So, no it wasn’t a rip-off offer at all.

It's fair-ish. Some owners have just been burned enough by Bortles where he's worth less than nothing to them.

I don't think that was bad offer in SF. I think Bortles is a little underappreciated. He's an above average QB, and in SF he is worth more than an aging McCoy plus Ware.
