This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Start-Up Draft: TE Advice - Who to Pick?

Postby killionb » Sat Jan 27, 2018 12:29 pm

I'm in a 32-team start-up draft that is a 1-copy league (an NFL player can only be on 1 fantasy team). So the waiver wire is VERY slim. We are currently in Round 8 (pick 231 overall), and I have yet to pick a tight end. 25 TE's have been drafted so far.

Knowing that in this league it is very hard to pick-up any decent TE on the waiver wire, which of the following TE's would you choose if you were in my situation:

Trey Burton (free agent in 2018)
Ricky-Seals Jones (has inside track to be AZ's starting TE in 2018)
Jake Butt (1st round talent that fell in the NFL draft due to injury)

Not terrible options, I actually could make a case for picking either of the 3, but Id rank them

Burton - like that he's a FA, should get a nice little value spike when he signs somewhere and looked good when he played

Jones - looked good last year when he played

Butt - too many injuries

Your statement, "first round talent" should lead you to take Jake Butt.

Burton. I like Butt too, but might have to wait another year for him.

Burton is the safest, Butt has the highest ceiling (when healthy), not sold on Jones.

I'd take Burton, played well when he relieved Ertz, is a FA and can sign somewhere juicy

I'd take Burton.

Just curious, how'd the first rounds of your draft pan out? I've commented on a handful of your posts. Wondering how it's gone so far for you.

I'd like to see the 25 taken so far to make sure you haven't missed anyone.

I still like Butt's upside, and Jones did decent - not really sold on Burton yet - I'd rather wait and see if he goes somewhere else.
