Swap 2018 late 1st for early 2019 1st UPDATED

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Swap 2018 late 1st for early 2019 1st UPDATED

Postby 21TD » Wed Jan 24, 2018 8:56 am

For my team below in signature.

The team i'd be trading with the team finished last this year. i would with confidence project this to be in the top 4 picks in 2019.

long term i need a stud wr. i have 4 picks in the 2nd round this year (2.01, 2.04, 2.09. 2.11), so i think i can absorb losing 1.09 ok

is this a slam dunk no brainer?

Yes. I'd even see if they would add a 2nd or 3rd to it since they want the 2018 pick.

Eh I'd hold onto the 1.09 for now. I'd wait to until 1.09 is on the clock to see if there's any rookie I want there, and even if not, see if there are better offers at that point. Projecting 2019 picks this far out is tough even if you think that team is currently very bad. There's so much time for injuries and surprise breakouts to happen and alter how we currently project our rosters to perform.

I hate trying to project picks especially this far out, I made a trade early in the season for a 1st that I figured would be late based on the guys loaded roster especially after the trade, it ended up being 1.03 because injuries and bad luck crucified him, and that was in the space of 4 months. imagine what can happen in over a year.

Take the pick. Last year I traded my OTC 1.10 (Evan Engram was drafted) to a team I anticipated being bottom three this year. He ended up being dead last and I am licking my chops as my top 3 team gets to add Barkley. Those are dart throws I take every time.
I am just a guy sharing some thoughts

Would need to see how much roster value he has to work with. Even a 1.01 team can turn things around quickly if they have enough assets to work with

I would take the chance (of course if you can get another pick thrown in, great). Even if it is not the 1.1 - next year looks like a much better WR draft. Gambling is what makes this fun.

To elaborate more - while we know that not every 1.09 will turn into a Kamara or a JJSS - but if it does, and other teams have a DJ type injury - that could turn what you thought was a 1.01-1.04 to a 1.09-1.12 and then you've basically waited a year to get a rookie pick for no charge.

But if you're willing to risk it, it is a fair offer. And it could certainly play into your favor - so in the end it depends on your risk assessment, and ability to afford that risk.
