Josh Gordon Trade

Postby dougw060 » Sat Jan 20, 2018 10:01 am

Was offered:

Josh Gordon + George Kittle + AJ McCarron
for
Corey Coleman + Jonnu Smith + Jimmy G

I would be getting the Gordon side. It's start 1 QB and my other QBs are Mahomes and Teddy B. Thoughts?
I'm in too many leagues to list them here

I’d pass. I think JimmyG is the best player in the deal and especially important to your team.

Its quite easily the Gordon side, esp if you have a competitive team.

Kittle and Smith are a wash and very likely waiver wire types.

Jimmy G is a upgrade over McCarron but in a 1QB league, QBs are cheap. So don’t put any stock in that side of things.

Gordon is only 26, and even if he can only stick it out in the league for a season or two before his old ways creep up, at least you’ll have a guaranteed starter for those two seasons (top 12WR with a better QB - book it). At this point I highly doubt Coleman has one top 12 WR in his career, he might be a top 24 type, but he’s a complimentary player. This is esp true when you consider that Gordon is going to be hogging all the targets, and nojuku is taking the close and intermediate targets. And if they draft Barkley like most suspect, Coleman might become the 3/4th read on most plays. Get Gordon and enjoy having the starter for however long he plays, you can replace Colemans production with waiver wire additions.

If you are really worried about QBs, just draft a rookie in the draft. Rookie QBs are always late 2nd or even 3rd round picks - pretty easy to trade for those.

What other QB's are on the waiver wire? I think if there are some decent options I'd take the Gordon side but if Jimmy G is the best option available then I'm sticking with his side of the deal.

One of the few times I'd take the Gordon side, but it's close.

I clicked Gordon but doubt I could actually go through with it.

Close, but I'm leaning Jimmy G. side.

Josh Gordon = Corey Coleman. I have very little interest in owning either WR.
George Kittle = Jonnu Smith. Both are TE prospects who could be good but could also bust.
AJ McCarron <<< Jimmy Garoppolo. I firmly believe Garoppolo could be a top-5 elite fantasy QB as soon as next season.

Agree mostly with this other than I don't believe Garoppolo will be an elite QB (I don't mind either WR but agree they are roughly equal in value). But he's a starter with a starter skill set. I don't think McCarron will ever cut it as a starting QB.
If you can't leave at least a 20% tip, you can't afford to eat out.

I think it's fair to say that Kittles has shown enough to at least be valued more than Smith, but I agree it shouldn't make a huge difference in this case. However, I'm going to assume that most would value Gordon over Coleman at this point by a decent amount, especially if they're both playing on the same team. The difference should be enough to cover the difference between the QBs in a 1QB league. I do think it's close though.

To clarify I would be much higher on Gordon if he didn’t have the massive risk which I’m factoring into that statement. Probably should have said most valuable piece in the deal.
