Marvin Jones value

Postby Bulletproof » Sat Jan 20, 2018 6:43 am

It's a 12 team PPR league and we have to cut down to 16 players by the end of March. So I'm looking to gettison some players for picks. Trying to get a gauge on Marvin Jones's value. Late 1st, early 2nd, mid 2nd?

QB: Lawrence, Kyler Murray, O’Connell
RB: Gibbs, Etienne, Javonte Williams, Chase Brown
WR: London, Tank Dell, Pickens JSN, Michael Wilson, Quentin Johnston
TE: McBride, Dulcich

In this type of league where it is a large keeper, traditional values do not apply since roster spots are very valuable.

That said - if you could get a 2nd I would be happy but I would be surprised if you could. From my experience, if you really want to sell Jones in a league like this you have to settle for much beloe consensus value. Like a 3rd to 5th.

Picks also seem to have a little more value because there will be good veteran free agents in the draft. I'm sure I can get a mid 2nd. Was hoping for a little more. He was really productive for me and won me some weeks

Yes - picks are more valuable because there are more free agents available, but for that reason; having a pick over a player means you get the pick AND an extra slot.

If the teams are smart, they will know what teams will have to probably drop certain players, if Jones is one u are not planning to keep then the value is nothing. I order to get picks u need to trade to someone who would keep Jones or trade someone else of value to that team

Jones is a guy that I think is severely undervalued right now. I'd take a 2nd if you have to cut him, but why would you cut someone who just finished as a wr1? Although I likely wouldn't pay 5 or 6, I'd need that to trade him away.

He's not really droppable in this format. If he were available in the rookie/free agent draft, I'm sure he would go in the first round. But roster spots are at a premium before the cut down date

I agree that he is undervalued and there's no way I would cut him. I have another owner interested and trying to get appropriate value

Why are you arguing with everyone what his value is when you come here to ask?
Why don't you just go see what you can get?

If you aren't keeping him - something is better than nothing, no?

I don't have any actual offers on the table, but the other interested owner suggested the 2.07 and a 2019 2nd

I apologize if it comes off like I'm arguing. I appreciate your input. I'm planning on keeping him, but willing to move him for the right price. I need to make roster space and would prefer to get some picks for players if I can. I'm going to see what I can get

Given the roster crunch situation, I think that is a fair-ish deal for Jones here. Heck, there's a decent chance rookie fever kicks in before your draft and the 'unexciting' Jones falls to you at 2.07 and you basically net a 2019 2nd for free.

Can't imagine a guy would give the two 2nds then cut him.

It would take a better offer for me to sell. I think you can get more if you put in the effort throughout your leaguemates.
