Dez Bryant bounce back or sell?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Dez Bryant bounce back or sell?

Postby kris_kapsner » Thu Jan 18, 2018 6:58 pm

I got an offer of the 1.11 in this draft for Dez. It feels way too low...but then again it's a fairly deep draft and I have some WR's.

What is Dez worth?

Feels about right to be honest, and I don’t think I’d pay that for Dez.

I think its low - and that he is probably worth more (and I am low on Dez Bryant) but odds are you're unlikely to get much more than that and at his age all you can hope for is for his value or production to maintain (rather than increase). So depends on whether you need the depth at WR more than the rookie pick.

That is about as good of an offer you will probably get for dez I would probably hold and hope he bounces back early in season then try to unload him then

Yea, I'm surprised someone actually offered a 1st and I doubt you can do better than that right now. If you're still a believer though and think it's light, just hold and hope he bounces back.

Everyone on this site hates Dez Bryant. He's only worth a late 2nd to most these people...who would rather have the next: josh doctson, Kevin white, Mike Williams, DGB etc...

I would probably pay close to 1.11 for him, I think he's probably worth more - but he's had a "down" year (as a solid wr2) and he doesn't turn 30 until mid next season. Im trying to buy where I don't currently own.

His owners want a "bounce back" to numbers he posted what would be 4 years ago come the 2018 season. That's ludicrous. It has nothing to do with hate, just facts.

I don't think he (or 99% of NFL WRs) will have1300yd 16 TD season in 2018, but he is the unquestioned #1 receiving target on his team, and he was having a decent season until zekes suspension. 5rec/55yd/0.5Td game. I'd rather take a 30yr old Dez over a late first flyer, but I also play in smaller roster leagues (17 & 20)

If it’s for the team in your sig then it’s tough. I want to know what’s going on with Fitz/Murray/Anderson QB situation/Lee before I make a move. If several of those are unfavorable then I’m blowing that team up and taking 1.11. If Fitz is back, one of the other WRs works out or you find a solid RB2 I’m all in on winning and I’m keeping Dez.

I haven't been able to get a 1st for Dez, so he's still on my team. While I don't expect a return to his glory days (mostly because he's not being used the same way with Dak versus Romo) I'd be happy with 1,000 yds/9-10 TD's. For that to happen though, I think Dallas will need to add better weapons around him in the passing game to take some heat off. I'm not confident they will.

But there's a possibility, though remote, there could be trouble between Dallas and Dez this offseason. I don't think it's unreasonable for the team to ask Dez to restructure, and he seems pretty adamant that he won't do it. If that's the case, it's not out of the question the team just decides to eat his $8mil cap hit and go another direction. His return on their investment certainly hasn't been worth the price to date.

1.11 isn't terrible. In fact it's probably fair based on what Dez has done the last three seasons. I just wouldn't be ready to give up yet for that price. Maybe I'm foolish, or just stubborn.

Three years ago it was basically a coin flip between Dez & OBJ for the 1.01 startup pick. It's amazing how far his stock has fallen, but numbers don't lie.

He did see a lot of double team coverage in 2017 since he was the only WR worth a damn on Dallas's roster and he did have several games with double digit targets.

I am holding all my Dez shares. I rather hold out hope that he becomes a cap cut or traded, then have a dart throw in the early-mid 2nd round. At worst he can be a WR3 or bye week filler.

I think I'd hang on to him til the 2018 season starts. As soon as he has a good two game stretch, trade him away. I don't think he's coming back to his production of years ago, but I also think a late first this year is too little.
