14 team Superflex...big deal with lots of parts

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

14 team Superflex...big deal with lots of parts

Postby auggiedoggies » Thu Jan 18, 2018 3:24 pm

14 team PPR Superflex. We start 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1Sflex, 1flex. League is also .25 points per carry, so RBs score a lot. Here's my team:

Wilson/Mariota
Fournette/Cook/Drake/Carson/Tevin/DMart/Jerick
OBJ/ARob/Diggs/Martavis/Garcon/Amendola/Britt
Watson/Julius

No picks in 2018

So, I've got some obvious weakness at TE, and wouldn't mind upgrading Mariota. Been negotiating with an owner who is looking to rebuild a bit. His desirable assets include:

A Rodg, Devonta, AJG, Dez

We've gone back and forth on a few proposals, and he has settled on this:

Give: OBJ, Mariota, Diggs, Carson

Get: A Rodg, AJG

To me, this feels like an easy pass. Am I overvaluing my own players (specifically MM and Diggs?) Any ideas on a counter?

I see this as Diggs = AJG, so it's essentially OBJ + Mariota for Rodgers. I would think you're a contender with your current roster, whereas paying that much to upgrade from Mariota to Rodgers would be a step back. I'd probably hold onto OBJ.

Odell Beckham went 1.04 while Aaron Rodgers went 1.10 in my most recent Superflex startup.

That's way too much. I wouldn't worry too much about upgrading Mariota. He's a very solid QB2 in a 14 team league and I expect him to improve next year with a new coaching staff. If anything, I'd look to buy a cheap veteran TE and maybe add some WR depth.

Agree that Mariota is more than serviceable in your league. This trade would devastate your WR core for that QB upgrade. AJG is no slouch at the position, but you're giving up younger assets to do so.

Yeah pretty easy pass

OBJ+carson ~ Arod (maybe Arod is worth a little more)
AJG > Diggs
OBJ+AJG+carson >= Arod + Diggs
Mariota >>> Free

To me, you are basically giving away Mariota.

Yeah I don’t like that deal at all. You are giving away too much.

OBJ ~ AROD
Diggs ~ Green
Mariota on top tilts it that way
I'm in too many leagues to list them here

I don't think it's as far off as some seem to think but I'd still pass. AJG is much closer to OBJ than he is to Diggs with small advantage to OBJ. Carson is basically worth nothing relative to everything else. Mariota+Diggs is pretty reasonable for Rodgers.
