Poll: Superflex Cousins vs Ryan/Woods

Postby FiremanEd » Thu Jan 18, 2018 10:18 am

14 team Superflex. Interested to know how large people view the QB delta and whether Woods covers or not (who seems to have current value of very late 1st/very high 2nd based on other threads). Would like to leverage the results to assess any wiggle room available based on popular opinion.

Note that this is value focused, so no team details are applicable.

Thanks in advance for all comments and votes.

Cousins > Ryan but not by a ton. I see it as Cousins = mid 1st, Ryan = late 1st, and Woods = late 1st. Woods would more than make up the difference for me.

Strongly on the Ryan/Woods side.

If I can get a potential WR2 to "trade down" within a position group, that seems incredibly cheap. Matt Ryan likely regresses to the mean in 2018 anyway and puts up similar numbers to Kirk.

You win this trade 8 times out of 10, and at least 2 of those times involve Matt Ryan outscoring Kirk Cousins.

That was last year. He was QB15 this year and Cousins was QB6 in my league. And Cousins is 3 years younger. I'd say Woods closes the gap and makes this fairly even.

Inclined to agree on the Ryan front. Last year was a perfect storm and outlier that is not (at least should not) be expected to repeat. Low QB1 is the realistic projection. Personally I expect better production from Cousins than Ryan, and then the age variable on top. Such is the context of the trade.

I’m also hesitant to project WR2 on Woods. WR3 seems more realistic, and I have my own concerns putting him above WR4 given historical performance. He could perform a WR2 again, but not sure you want him there in your depth chart.

I'd agree; I don't want to pencil him as a WR2 on any of my teams. I'd say this trade values him as a WR5, though.

Obviously questions surround Cousin's future, but for fantasy, I view him over Ryan. Ryan gets a lot more pub than he should as a top QB option. Aside from last year, he's not far off from middle of the pack throughout his career.

Much of the same can be said for Woods. I like the offense in LA, but I definitely do not trust Woods considering his entire career up til now has left him being unrosterable... granted that was with Buffalo and the QB issues they've had. If I had Woods, I wouldn't want him to be anything more than my WR4 capable of filling in for bye weeks, injuries, or in good matchups.
