Jordan Howard price check

Postby Space Cowboy » Wed Jan 17, 2018 8:23 pm

Polarized player last offseason but he did it again. What's his worth? Low end RB1? High end RB2? Multiple firsts?

Low rb1. I’d need a top 3-4 first at least

Agreed. He finished as RB 10 (2016), and RB 11 (2017) in PPR leagues. He's underrated for sure.

It's absolutely reasonable for his owners to hold him unless they get a top 2-3 pick. I don't blame them, he's been very productive.

I would never pay that and won't own him anytime soon from a startup, because I don't think his talent supports future success at an elite level.

I think he's headed for an Alf Morris level dropoff in production, as he's a very solid, steady, smart player but I don't see anyone special when I watch him run. Granted, that could mean he still has another couple years of top 20 RB value, or it could be more like what we saw from Jeremy Hill after his torrid rookie year.

I don’t think the drop off will be quite that severe but basically agree with this. Production did drop this year too by almost 2 1/2 ppg.

I don't see that as Morris had zero receiving chops, while Howard is a very good receiver. While Cohen takes some targets away, Howard is still quite involved.

I see Chicago as an ascending offense as 1) it can't get much worse and 2) that defense is very good.
Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.

Uh...no. Howard is an awful pass-catching RB and had a lot of drops this season. I fully expect Cohen to handle the majority of 3rd down snaps in 2018. That said, I agree with your other points about the CHI offense improving as a whole and the defense keeping games close. I'd value Howard around the 1.03 or 1.04.

I personally would value Howard with a 2/3 first, I don't think anyone outside of Barkley will have that kind of value right away. Guy has been a stud on a team that has been pitiful, typically RB's on losing teams don't do as well (negative game script, bad o-lines, focal point of offense - see Todd Gurley) but he has been an exception. Sufficed to say, I'm still pretty high on Howard, hard to fault a guy that is averaging over 1,400 yds, 8 TD's, 4YPC, is still only 23 yrs old AND has never missed a game all while averaging almost 300 touches per year. That's dependability at its finest folks.

I'd need a top 3 pick too. It's not like opposing defenses had to defend a strong passing offense in Chicago. As the Bears' offense progresses, so will Howard. I don't see a step back at all.

Howard is undervalued everywhere.... except by his owners so you can't take advantage of the undervaluedness and buy him cheap lol

I think everyone is right in saying he's worth 1.2-1.3 and Chicago's offense in improving around him which should help. I think him being RB9-12 for the next 3-4 years isn't out of the question
