David Johnson vs Kamara + 1.10

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Is no one worried about the change at QB affecting how defenses play the Cards? I have no issues with DJ's skill set, so the deal is close, a preference call on team makeup. But the Cards may face 8 men in the box consistently to force however is QB to beat them over allowing it to be DJ (think Gurley 2016).

I made almost this exact same trade at the deadline in-season. Gave Kamara, 1.10, Darkwa and a 4th for DJ. I wasn't expecting Kamara to keep up his pace through the end of the season but I still feel good about the deal.
Team 1 (3rd Season):
12 team 6pts all TDs/.5ppr
Start QB,2RB,2WR,TE,FLEX
24 Man Active Roster
QB: Wilson, Wentz
RB: Freeman, D. Cook, Jamal Williams, Carson, AP, Lindsay, RJ
WR: Adams, T. Hill, Thielen, M. Bryant, Golladay, Trequan Smith, Pettis, MVS, J'mon Moore, C. Williams
TE: Olsen, Gescicki, Ebron, J. Smith
2019: 1st, 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd, 4th

Team 2 (2nd season):
12 team 4pt Pass TDs/.5ppr
Start QB,2RB,2WR,TE,3FLEX
25 Man Active Roster/3 IR spots
QB: Mariota, Roethlisberger, Trubisky
RB: DJ, Guice, Penny, Royce Freeman, Conner, Carson, Kelly, Dixon, Morris
WR: Allen, JJSS, Landry, Robinson, Watkins, Godwin, Callaway, Allison, Doctson, J. Moore, MVS
TE: Kelce, Njoku

I’m not. I think DJ is one of those backs that is defense-proof from a fantasy perspective due to his large volume in the passing game. Like Bell and Gurley. If defenses sell out to stop the run I expect his receiving stats will be even higher (80 receptions in 2016). I think Kamara falls into that group too.

I would take the DJ side. He injured his wrist, not a knee, so his value is still the same elite value it has always been and he still has a good number of years left.

I’m more confident DJ can come back and be DJ than I am kamara repeats the next 3 years

Give me Kamara and the pick. I'd take the top 5 RB (in an RBBC, no less) who's 5 years younger. On an offense that knows how to use him vs the star RB getting a question mark at HC and QB. Kamara every day.

An update on this. I couldn't pull the trigger on the David Johnson deal, but ended moving Kamara + 2.01 for Michael Thomas
12 Team Superflex Best Ball PPR TEP +1.5
QB: Lawrence, Kyler Murray, O’Connell
RB: Gibbs, Etienne, Javonte Williams, Chase Brown
WR: London, Tank Dell, Pickens JSN, Michael Wilson, Quentin Johnston
TE: McBride, Dulcich
