Jordy Nelson

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Jordy Nelson

Postby Motay316 » Thu Jan 11, 2018 10:48 am

What's everybodys take on him this off-season? I've heard that he may be gone from Green Bay and most of his value is tied to Aaron Rodgers. Is he someone that you can buy low on or do you avoid based on age? Is he worth a 2018 2nd and 2019 3rd?

I've gone on record before that I think Jordy is a buy low, will stay in GB, and be a decent WR2 for the next couple of years due to his connection with Rodgers despite losing some speed. I would buy for a 2nd + 3rd.

I think he's a good buy low as well. I see GB parting with Cobb before Jordy. Him and Rodgers share a brain.

He isn't done by any means, will give you 2-3 years of value I believe. Not sure what I'd give but I'd try to buy him cheap.

He can probably be had for a 2nd. Not sure he ever puts up WR1 numbers again, but should be a nice WR2/3 to have, which is pretty cheap for a 2nd.

Would you give Tyrell Wiliams for him on a contender?

I own Jordy in just two leagues but I would still want at “least” a 2nd rounder, might take a early to mid 2nd. I wouldn’t trade him for any less, I would just ride him out because he should still put up pretty good numbers, as long as Rodgers is healthy.

Jordy MIGHT have two more years of viability.

Jordy also MIGHT be done in Green Bay, and therefore simply done.

Both options are equally realistic.

That said, even if he’s usable, the Jordy of old is gone. He has def lost a step and needs to be moved into the slot, similar to what the cards did with fitz. He should still a decent chunk of redzone targets, although Rodgers first read is now Adams. I can’t be bothered to look up the stat again but I know that last yr Adams started avg’ing more looks in the redzone than Jordy (*in games Rodgers played). I would expect a James Jones esk year at best for the next two yrs 60-900-8

Jordy is realistically worth a 3rd but I’m guessing most wouldnt sell unless they got a 2nd

There are certain guys that, if I owned them and had a competitive team, I would probably just hold and ride into the dynasty sunset because they will now be perennially undervalued and the seller will never be compensated for what the player will do over the next 1-4 years. Jordy is one of those guys. Others that I view in the same light: Larry Fitz, Delanie Walker, Frank Gore, Mike Wallace. All steady WR or RB2s, but valued at a late-2nd or early-3rd. Some that are close (and may already be there in some cases): Dez, Julio, AJG, DT, McCoy.

If you can get Jordy for a 3rd, it's an absolute steal. If you can get him for a 2nd, then take it and enjoy the steady numbers.

I put him on the trade block and the only offer I received was Allen Hurns. At this point I'll just ride him into retirement.

I'd gladly pay a 2nd round pick. I can't see Green Bay getting rid of both Cobb and Jordy. If that happens, Adams owners better hold onto their seats because it's going to be a bumpy ride. Most likely outcome is the Packers look to restructure Jordy because they need him much more than they do Cobb.
If you can't leave at least a 20% tip, you can't afford to eat out.
