1.02 or Freeman (trade completed!)

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

1.02 or Freeman (trade completed!)

Postby moishetreats » Sun Jan 07, 2018 1:36 pm

For Team 1 in sig (2QB league), 1.02 for Freeman could be on the table. Thoughts?

Thank you!

EDIT: Trade completed. See new post at the end of the thread.

Honestly I would take the 1.02, freeman is proven and young but if you take the 1.02 you should be able to flip it for more come draft time just my thoughts

Agreed, but it should be said that this is risky. I'd much rather have Freeman than the 1.02, but I do think that you'll be able to swap the 1.02 for more value than Freeman at the draft...but if you can't make that trade, you're taking a long shot on whoever you pick becoming a stud or you've lost out.

Pretty even but I’d take 1.02.

Are we saying that a currently productive back ranks third in the upcoming draft? Seems to me this is a "bird in the hand" situation. While you might be able to get more in trade for the 1.02 close to the draft, the same could be said about Freeman when everyone is gearing up for next season. I'd rather hold the clear lead for a committee on a strong offense than chance that the pick I make becomes more.

Very well said... it can be boring during draft day to already have your roster established and the draft hype kicks in. Freeman is a great snag for that pick IMO. Maybe you can get a later dart tossed in. Good luck!

In a 2QB league, I'd lean 1.02. If you take a QB and he ends up being the real deal, he'll be worth twice as much as Freeman a year from now. 1QB leagues, I would have gone Freeman.

Thank you, everyone. You have a tremendous help -- and frustration! :)

The arguments both for and against echo my thinking, hence my indecision. I do appreciate the reminder of the value of proven players, something that I tend to champion.

I'll keep waffling :).

Re: 1.02 or Freeman

The final deal evolved.

GAVE:
Freeman
Crowell
Burton
4 in 2019
5 in 2019
3 in 2020

GOT:
Foreman
1.02
3.09
2 in 2019
5 in 2020

I gave up more than I would have liked. It came down to the fact that I would have had to cut players like T. Williams, Burton, and Carson in the off-season for roster spots. This trade, while a "loss" for me, at least protected my roster.

I'm not thrilled, but the opportunities that the picks afford were worth the hit in value. So I hope :).

Thank you all again!

Foreman, 3.09, '19 2nd, '20 5th is better than Crow, Burton, '19 4th, '19 5th, '20 3rd

if you were open to Freeman for the 1.02 straight up, this was an even better deal IMO

Wow you got Foreman and the 2019 2nd as practically throw-ins. That's a sweet deal. I would have been all over the Freeman for the 1.02 as is. Freeman's per game numbers have been steadily declining since 2015.
