This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Lamar Miller trade

Postby hjernazian » Tue Jan 02, 2018 9:56 pm

Got offered Lamar Miller ($49) + 2.08 for my 2.10 and 3.08.

Thoughts on Lamar Miller next year and on? If I did this trade, I would likely have to cut Jordy or move him for peanuts.

Miller likely isnt gonna start in houston as he lost Carries to alfred blue, i think your rbs are pretty good no need imo to pull this trade

I would not make this trade. This is a very bad deal for you. No way I would take an average rb with a $49 cap price.

I'd say no as well. I'd say no before even seeing he is $49! Stay away from Miller, I think he is a committee back going forward.

I would stay away from Miller unless you can get him dirt cheap. If he goes some where else I still think he cares a little value.

not at that price but i think the above posters are thinking millers demise has already happened. as for the losing carries to blue i think they just felt no need to overwork miller in a lost season. his passing game role should be strong and he should have more room to run with watson back next year....foreman is a threat though.

The only reason not to take this is the cost. As far as losing carries or being a committee back, he went the bulk of the season with 15+ carries a game until the final weeks. I'm not sure the team could have made it more obvious they were lessening the workload as the season wound down other than maybe handing out fliers.

I still like Miller as a RB2, but that seems like a very expensive price for him.

to make it affordable, i would have to cut Jordy. So the question becomes: Jordy or L. Miller?

Not sure who I prefer, but cutting Jordy doesn't make Miller's contract any better. You'd still be handicapping yourself at adding more pieces with that salary. Just not sure it's worth it.

it's not. not going to do it. especially since the owner is likely cutting him to get under cap, although he's kind of a throw in where i upgrade a late 2nd and 3rd for a not-so-late 2nd.

Goddard (and the rest of you) what do you think of this? Trade J. Nelson $41 for L. Miller $49 and 3.07. My logic here is as follows:

1. I am utilizing my one overage year next year, and am going over regardless.

2. If I keep Jordy, I do so because I believe he puts me over the top and returns back to - maybe not stud WR1 - but WR1/2 value, being my WR3 (if Fitz retires/Corey doesn't take a step forward). Even if he balls out, I would essentially be cutting him after next year as I envision - best case - one more solid year from him.

3. If I pay the overage and keep Lamar, there is the possibility that he bounces back next year (although he still put up RB2 numbers this year, just fell out of favor due to his lofty expectations) and has a top 10 RB finish. Combine that with his age, and he suddenly becomes desirable in trades, leaving me with an asset at the end of next year I can move.

I still think you would have trouble trading Miller at that contract even if that best case scenario transpired. And I feel Jordy has a better chance to score more than Miller (with a healthy Rodgers back) in that one year window. A 3rd doesn't seem like enough to take the risk that those positions reverse. I agree with you that Miller is probably going to be dropped at that salary by your opponent, so you could have a shot to draft him anyway.

.

Good points. I agree with most. Only issue is there about 4-5 backs that are in the 50 plus range and are still coveted, DJ Zeeke Bell etc. also, if he were to get dropped he likely would just float around as year 4 or our league entails a hard cap, and no one has 50 dollars in space. Year 4 we will also be doing a FA draft but eligibility rests on a starting bid of 30.
