Peak Trade Value?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Peak Trade Value?

Postby Razzy22 » Wed Dec 13, 2017 4:39 pm

Which of these players are at their peak value and should be traded for profit? Most have been trending upwards, but offseasons can be tricky and anything can happen.

Tyreek Hill
Alex Collins
Josh Doctson
Jordan Howard
Jamaal Williams

Do Donta Foreman and John Ross come back next year in a more favorable spot than they did this year?

Thank you

Collins is at peak value. Sell for a mid First.

Howard is at peak value, I would sell for the 1.01 or 1.02.

Hill would be at peak value if you're not a believer in him long term. I personally think he will continue to be an upside WR2 and so I wouldn't sell unless I'm getting Hilton/ARob/Diggs prices.

Jamal Williams is probably a similar concept to Tyreek Hill, except I'm NOT a believer in him. So he's a sell for me (any First), but if you think he'll keep the job then hold him.

Doctson is definitely not a sell high.

Howard’s peak value was probably this past offseason. He’s been exposed as a two-down plodder this year. If you can cash out for a mid 1st, consider yourself lucky.

Doctson is probably a hold unless you can get a mid 1st. I don’t think I’d trade him for anything later than 1.08, and I doubt too many buyers are willing to pay more.

Tyreek is just awesome. I was skeptical coming into this year and probably would’ve moved him for a mid/late 1st, but at this point, I’m riding it out unless someone blows me away with a ridiculous overpay.

You think Howard is worth only a mid 1st? So if I was offered fournette and Keenan for 2 2018 late 1st and Howard you would do that with my team?

Tyreek Hill - He relies on speed to be effective so he will not hold the long term value as other talented WR's, but I would hold him and get a few solid years out of him while he is young, just be sure to move him before he loses his value.

Alex Collins - His value is as high as it will be, I would move him quickly.

Josh Doctson - Hold, you will not get the value that he is worth right now. Though he still could be average but you wont get anything worth your while so I would wait and see.

Jordan Howard - Others may differ her but I'm not super high on Howard. If the coaching changes happen in Chicago I would wait for that and hope that a hype train follows and get good value for him and move him. Otherwise hold unless you get great value.

Jamaal Williams - Hold unless you get good value, if he earns the starting job next year he could be valuable, but he also could get stuck in a timeshare with Jones/Tymont so I would move him if the price is right otherwise take the gamble and keep him.

Collins, Howard & Jamaal Williams I would look to move.

You definitely will not get the 1.01 or 1.02 like someone suggested above for Howard...but a mid first seems reasonable. Collins you probably could get maybe a late first but more likely an early second. Jamaal Williams you could try and get a late first or early second as well. The reason I don't really like Collins/Williams is they do not have the job locked up at all and there is a potential that this is there peak value. It very much could go the other way also but I would personally prefer the picks at this point.

I wish I owned a mid 1st if I knew I could land Howard for that... Howard is producing just fine in an offense that has he and Trubisky and big stinking pile of dung. Looks an awful lot like the Rams a year ago. No way is a middle-1st "peak value".

Williams and Hill I would consider "at peak", though I see Hill more on a plateau as his value should remain steady.

All of the RBs are sell high. Low on Ross so I'm not expecting much. Foreman will probably not look good next year after the achilles injury (first year after is tough after said injury), might be 2019 before we see him breakout.

Tyreek Hill - I'm a believer. He's TY Hilton, and Pat Mahomes can unlock his full potential. I would need at least 2 1sts to sell Hill, if not more.
Alex Collins - I think he'll get a chance to be BAL's workhorse RB next year, and they'll get Marshal Yanda back. I'd sell for a mid 1st, but I'd hold otherwise.
Josh Doctson - A lot here depends on whether you think Kirk Cousins is still in WAS next season. I think Doctson's potential there, but I think WAS's inept management can't be trusted. I'd sell for an early 2nd or late 1st.
Jordan Howard - I'd need the 1.02 to move him. The man is producing when every defense knows CHI can only run the ball and has no WRs and a rookie TE. Howard and the offense should flourish with a healthy Kyle Long and some FA or rookie WR help in 2018.
Jamaal Williams - Eh. I really don't know. He might be the best back, but with Ty Montgomery and Aaron Jones there, I think the coaching staff will continue to use a RBBC when they are all healthy. I'd sell for a mid 1st, maybe a late 1st, and hold otherwise.

D'Onta Freeman - Hold. I like the talent, and it's not like you could get much for him right now. If he can get back to 100%, he could eventually be the lead back in a powerhouse offense led by Deshaun Watson.
John Ross - Hold. I've never been a huge fan, but like Freeman, you can't sell him for much right now. Best case scenario is 1. AJ McCarron starts in CIN in 2018 and 2. they get him offensive line help so he has enough time to throw downfield to Ross.

you missed the boat on selling rb's..you likely cant trade until the playoffs are over...i think all are prime sell high candidates to be honest.....i think most feel doctson, hill, and howard have the highest ceilings...but they are likely topped out at 2's rather than elite. nice guys to have, but likely dont command a ton on the market in alot of instances. collins and williams are both hot, and you may be able to sell them...but you have "to be strong enough" to let go. they are both likely to bring you a late 1st/early 2nd at best....and thats being generous imo.....thats a personal preference propostition, but i would sell if i could get a top 15 for either.

Thank you Skip, I was face palming every time I saw Howard's name. He's obviously talented and the fantasy motto is "talent > situation"

As for who you should sell, I say Collins and Williams as well. They could easily be nobodys next season
