Move up or Stay Put

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Move up or Stay Put

Our regular season has ended and the talks of trades are flying around already

There are 3 potential scenarios for the 1.01
1. Team keeps it
2. 9th place team makes offer from 1.02 (also has my 1st - probably 1.07)
3. I have 1.03, 1.06 and 2.02 known so far, others are late in their respective rounds.

I don't think the last place team is willing to move back much further than that. While I love the idea of Kamara, DJ, Barkley and Mixon... I'd probably have to do 1.03/1.06/late 2nd to out bid 9th place. Is it really worth it? Or should I just look to aim at whoever is left of Chubb/Guice since the top 3 will probably be Rb in this draft for our league looking at team needs. I could then turn 1.06 into a flyer on a WR/Best available

I can only keep 5 guys I draft due to roster limits, so I'm also considering trading one of the late 2nds+ for Jax Defense since they were a step above the rest this year

1.03 + 1.06 + 2nd is still very cheap for the 1.01. I'd make that happen ASAP if you can. The 1.01 will be worth an insane amount as the offseason progresses.

I don't know if I'd call that very cheap. We're not sure where any of these guys land. However at 1.03 Guice or Chubb are still in play, 1.06 is hard to project however that could be a play maker (I like Love here). 2nds are hard to project so I won't get into that.

Do I believe Barkley is a stud? Absouletly, do I think it matters where he lands? Not at all. However, if one of the mentioned players go to a be a costly price for Barkley.

Using the last two drafts from MFL ADP in June using just rookie draft and basing it off of a standard league scoring that trade would be: Fournette (167.7 points) for Davis (23.6 points), Hunt (183.5 points) and Engram (98.8 points).

Two years ago this trade would have been Zeke for Treadwell, Doctson and Hunter Henry.

So I would just be aware there is some fire power outside of just one, granted the Zeke trade looks easy, last year would be tough to convince someone to do.

Fair point, but I'd predict that the 2018 rookie draft tiers are going to be much more like the 2016 tiers than the 2017 tiers. I feel that many will have the 1.01 (Saquon Barkley) alone in the top tier with Derrius Guice, Nick Chubb, or whoever else in a slightly lower second tier. However, I will say that had this trade occurred in 2016 in my league, it would've been 1.01 (Ezekiel Elliott) for 1.03 (Josh Doctson) + 1.06 (Michael Thomas) + 2.12 (Alex Collins). Again, it all depends on whether Barkley and whoever else is drafted works out. It's kind of all a crapshoot haha.

I don't know if any of those are enough, but if 3 is an option, I'd make that trade.

100% agree, the hard part is by the time we find out where the second tier guys land, the Barkley price will jump! I anticipate after the combine the pick will be so hard to get. Not crazy to think Barkley may run a 4.3. However back to the OP, I'm not sure if getting Barkley is a need, you have Kamara, Mixon and Dj, while adding Barkley to that tandem would be awesome do you have other needs? I'd assume you're close to competing for playoffs/title, in which case I'd trade the picks you own for some veterans who could put you over.

Good convo so far, and valid points on previous years players at those spots

Actually I barely squeeked into the playoffs in 4th place... was a rough season

We are changing the lineups to 1qb, 2rb, 3wr, 1te anf 2 flex next season. So my thought for a standard starting lineup would be DJ, Kamara, Thomas, Hilton, Landry, Mixon/Rookie Rb and ARob

Would give me 1 extra on top of a strong starting lineup.

The guy at 1.01 is starving for talent, but has also said he wants to see how the draft goes. The only hope is that our league (1st dynasty for all of us) doesn't skyrocket the values as much as most. I just let him know I was interested and told him to be sure to let me know if he is taking offers.
