Considering trading DJ to make a run at the championship

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Considering trading DJ to make a run at the championship

Postby DaHoodie83 » Wed Nov 22, 2017 8:45 pm

For the team in the signature below, I’m in 2nd place (in the standings and total points) and thinking about giving up DJ in this trade to make a run at the championship. Feel like Cooks would be a nice piece to add, and Coleman provides RB depth. The draft picks will probably be mid-round picks.
Team 1: 12 Team, 0.5 PPR, Start 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 1 TE, 1 FLEX (RB/WR/TE) - 2020 Champ
QB: Patrick Mahomes, Brock Purdy
RB: Austin Ekeler, Derrick Henry, Tony Pollard, James Conner
WR: Davante Adams, Cooper Kupp, Keenan Allen, Tank Dell, Tyler Lockett, Marvin Mims, Michael Wilson
TE: Travis Kelce, Dalton Schultz, Isaiah Likely

Team 2: 12 Team, 0.5 PPR, Start 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 1 TE, 2 FLEX (RB/WR/TE)
QB: Brock Purdy, Matthew Stafford
RB: Breece Hall, Joe Mixon, Rachaad White, Keaton Mitchell
WR: Justin Jefferson, Courtland Sutton, Gabe Davis, Jameson Williams, Mike Williams
TE: George Kittle

Team 3: 12 Team, PPR, TE Premium, Start 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 1 TE, 2 FLEX (RB/WR/TE) - 2023 Champ
QB: Jalen Hurts, Brock Purdy
RB: Isiah Pacheco, Kenneth Walker III, Gus Edwards, Ty Chandler, JK Dobbins
WR: AJ Brown, Chris Godwin, Courtland Sutton, Dontayvion Wicks, Khalil Shakir
TE: Dallas Goedert, Darren Waller, Chig Okonkwo

Johnson. You have no picks, but your team looks like a monster once he returns next season. I'd try to get just a bit more. The only thing that really works against the DJ side is if Arians and Carson Palmer leave with Fitz in the offseason. Still, DJ is a cornerstone player.

If they will pay that then they may toss in another nugget. Give it a shot. Like others have said on here. Its hard to get into the final and passing up a chance to win would be regrettable imo. Good luck!

Getting more is worth a try, but I don’t see how you could expect more than that return in season. I think it’s fair and my decision would come down to how strongly I felt I could win if I made it.

I think that's pretty good value. But I would probably try to switch out Coleman and the 2nd for a higher end piece.

unsure on this honestly. Cooks does improve your WR quite a bit, and the ceiling each week with him Coop and Hill out there is pretty massive. The floor tho is pretty low, although Cooks numbers were better than I️ thought when I looked them up.

With 2 firsts you can then grab a few young pieces at which is pretty good especially if you do win it all.

WR: DeAndre Hopkins, Michael Thomas, Adam Thielen, Will Fuller, Darius Slayton, Brandon Aiyuk, Keelan Cole,

I appreciate all of the input. I’ve been wrestling with this one. I’m realizing it’s just hard to give up DJ, even with there being some questions about his situation going forward. I’ll see if he’s willing to offer more or change up some of the pieces. Other players of interest on that roster are Keenan Allen, ARob, and Hunter Henry.

I agree I’m a little short on 2018 draft picks, but I used them to build up this roster. The good thing is the 2018 1st isn’t my own, it’s from the worst team in our league. Unfortunately, we have a Toilet Bowl for the bottom 6 teams, so probably not the 1.01, but at least a top 6 pick.

No way I make this move. Playoffs are a crap shoot. 1 bad week and you're done. No way I take that return as a DJ owner. Cooks is a nice piece, Coleman hopefully gets his shot at being the main guy within the next 2 years, but no guarantee. Draft picks are lotto tickets. I need much more.
