Gurley vs OBJ

Postby fantasydem » Tue Nov 21, 2017 11:21 pm

Team two in signature.. The Gurley owner reached out to me about moving his Gurley for my OBJ & 2019 3rd. This would help me a lot this year obviously and Gurley is still young & probably a top 10 fantasy asset, as is OBJ so I’ think it’s a pretty even trade. Would you guys make this move?

There's no way I'm adding to OBJ to get Gurley, even if it's just a 3rd. I think the Gurley side needs to add something decent.

If you think this get you the ship then yes but not with a 3rd... If it doesn't help you win it all I would rather have OBJ.

Hell, no. If he wants you to add, counter with AJG or Julio + a second, but keep OBJ.

Gurley is a lot closer in value with the .25ppc, but I would still need something added on top to move OBJ.

lol these fools are trying to blow an obvious slam dunk for you.

If you think Gurley helps you win the ship then this is a no brainer. A third should not sway your decision one way or the other.

If this helps you this year I would do this pretty easily. Gurley is in a much better situation going forward, on a young team, that's poised to improve in the upcoming years. The Giants have so many questions, and OBJ is returning from a tough injury given the way he plays the game.

In .25PPC, Gurley is on pace for 428 points this year.

That would outscore by more than 100 points in any of his first three seasons. By comparison David Johnson had 407 points in PPR last year.

Give me Gurley pretty easily here, given the scoring and outlook of each players situation going forward. If you need to throw in a late pick to swing it and help you win a ship, don't get caught up on a dart throw.

What's your record? Do you feel like you have a legit shot at a ship run?

Looking at your team I don't know if Gurley puts you over the top. You basically have nothing behind AJG and Julio, so if something goes wrong and your WR pool thins out even more, I don't think this trade would be good for you.

Wow, I'll be the first one to say that OBJ lost value with that injury, but this isn't close. I would need significant value added to the Gurley side, even with PPC. Something like a late 1st, early 2nd, or
a good prospect.

PPC and that roster? Take Gurley. Who cares if you have to throw in a 3rd? Go for the title this year.

How so? Can you please give some reason why this isnt even close, or is it simply the mindset of taking a WR over RB?

Even last year, in which I hope we can agree we saw the worst of Gurley and his floor, each player scored the following:

OBJ - 294 points
Gurley - 269 points

Gurley gets approximately 300 carries a year would is an additional 75 points/year, the same as rushing for an additional 750 yards.

If we value WRs over RB because their career is longer, I would say this is a wash, given OBJ is 2 years older than Gurley. Obviously situation lends itself to the Rams. How can you say this isn't even close?
