POLL - Ertz vs Gronk

Postby sharkattack » Tue Nov 21, 2017 2:39 pm

Wondering if Ertz has surpassed Gronk? I know name wise it’s still probably Gronk, but I gotta believe this is getting close....let’s find out.

Kelce, Ertz, and Gronk are the clear top 3. I could see any order as reasonable.

Agreed - you just have a little more of a track record with Gronk/Kelce. But it's been a down year again overall with TEs.

I know gronk is still the "game changer" but how long do we use that term when he can't get out a full game/year (back injuries worry me more than any other). I'd still have him top 3 but I don't think ertz kelce and gronk are too far apart. Standing by for the "alot of recency bias" "people have short memories" calls, I'd agree mostly with them. At the moment ertz is the most consistent tell whilst kelce has been the "game changer" along with gronk.

Ertz has a great floor, but I don't think he has the same ceiling Kelce and Gronk have. I like Gronk/Kelce as the 1A/1B while Ertz is only just slightly behind them. My concern about Ertz is does he continue his usage once Wentz gets a consistent WR1/2 duo to throw to.

Ertz's career has looked a lot like Kelce's so far. Right now Gronk probably still has more value, but I think Ertz passes him in the offseason.

I think that's fine, although I'd still rather have Gronk than Ertz, by a decent margin. Gronk has had a mildly disappointing season, and Ertz (up until recently) has been getting tons of good looks this year. That certainly may continue, but I'll take the guy who's had the historic TE career and is only what, 28? Yes, HUGE injury red flag. But he's a HOFer and could potentially play for 5 more years, or more.

This is the argument that makes it close for me. But for me, I'm putting Kelce and Ertz ahead of Gronk (based soley on propensity for injury). That said, I think the Eagles probably keep Alshon and Agholor and promote Mack Hollins, which leaves plenty of room for Ertz to get his. And Wentz just LOVES him in the Red Zone. All thinks considered I'm going Ertz/Kelce/Gronk in that order.
